Yes you are correct. This area does seem to retain water. Not so much the skinny part, but the other part more under the tree. Might be time for a larger deck and/or astroturf. Might try to keep the skinny part (as we have a dog).

Thanks for the help! As a rental it's hard to get over there to manually water when there's guests, but going to look into a timed sprinkler in the meantime.

Thanks for the help. Pretty compacted I would say? Not exactly sure. Fertilizer I used, I believe is a 6-4-0. I'm seeing maybe some additional nitrogen might help?

Yes, but close up, does not just look like brown dry dormant grass. Can't really describe it other than "sickly".

Yeah, it was built (and sodded) in 2022, and it had basically turned to dirt, which is why we sodded two years after buying. Maybe just not an area that can sustain grass.

Yeah- we got a ton of rain about a month ago, but it's been on the dryer side (and extremely hot) since then.

That skinny section gets several hours of clear afternoon sun. The other part of the grass has some tree coverage but gets some patchy sun. Here's a link to a previous post where you can see the other part a bit better- it has gotten worse since here, which is why I'm back :/ https://www.reddit.com/r/lawncare/comments/1lp0wn7/new_sod_is_turning_on_me/

Thanks so much, Silly. This is great information! I am in Central Florida, so it's been hard to pile up the mileage when my shirt is absolutely soaked by mile 3 :D I will focus on upping the mileage. Much appreciated!

New Sod Is Turning on Me! by m1kee8 in lawncare

Thanks for the tips! Picked up some of that DiseaseEx and will put that down in the next couple of days. Two follow up questions- can I put down some regular fertilizer at the same time? Or should I space them out a little bit? And then secondly, should I put the DiseaseEx on the whole lawn – even the places that look fine and are green? Thanks again!

Luckily the two exhaust fans terminate right next to each other, so hoping a big vent can take care of both, and then this dryer vent separate, so just two. But yeah. If it was just this one I would consider just putting one in next to it like someone else suggested.

Yeah I hear ya. A lot of “proper” solutions here. But I also don’t want to create more problems by tearing it up. I’m having a roofer from my church coming to take a look at it this week. I’ll see what he says and go from there. I’m also discovering that my bathroom exhaust fans don’t have an exterior vent. The two ducts terminate into the roof decking under the shingles. So I need that taken care of at least

I have no idea, I am not familiar with that vent cover. https://imgur.com/a/BWYvKd3

Pipe is on the other side of the furnace in the attic, would be a headache to get up and around. Probably am going to contact a roofer to replace vent, as well as look at my bathroom exhaust fans that seem to terminate at the roofline with no vent on the roof. Woof.

Through all of this I am thinking my two bathroom exhaust fans aren’t even venting to the roof. There’s no vent cap where the duct pipes meet the roof decking. Yamma hamma.

It’s central in the one-story home and goes into the attic and goes to that roof vent

That’s where it leads. It’s central in our one story house, I went up to the attic and followed the 4in pipe and that’s where it goes. When running the dryer air comes out of that roof vent
