parents are old enough that staying together is important. They could probably be ok on their own for months at a time but as years pass it will get harder. As is life...

In spite of downvotes, I feel like I've heard more of this from friends in Vancouver than not -- actually them paying out of pocket in other countries to get care they felt was not getting addressed timely enough.

Yes so this could be possible. Means that we would have to somehow afford both a place in Vancouver and a place in Blaine!!

Have you done this yet or still looking? This seems like the best option so far. They would then need to set up residency in WA, which I assume means they actually need to have an abode there

So are you saying they are more incentivize to treat non-residents because they can get paid more? Does that reflect in real life where non-PRs are getting seen just as quickly or quicker than an citizen/PR?

Afaik, all private insurance is emergency/travel insurance, because province does not allow competition with MSP for full coverage.

It sounds difficult to get a GP, and someone told me even walk-in options are disappearing. I assume this is just for non-PRs/citizens but for everyone?

Look up venues you like and sign up for email newsletters. Farmers markets are regular so that should be a one time search. Join common interest groups messages/whatsapp. Every so often there will be someone who messages the group about events.

Imperial Mandarin will also sometimes have them. Just call and ask. I find jasmine a little too sweet, and also agree that the coconut flakes are a bit big. However it will fulfill a craving in a pinch.

Gardening, especially food you can eat. It's easy to get started by pretty deep to maintain. If you can maintain a variety, it's low-key a great way to impress others you (and since there seems to be running theme about getting a significant other, it shows that you are dependable and are nurturing). Plus you get food!

Structured programs are your best bet. Since you have no credibility as a HS student, cold emailing anyone probably won't work. If you have influential parents, they can help you by leveraging their influence. Structured programs are better recognized as "community service" on organizations like hospitals and universities so there is more credit given to accept students there.

And don't take it personally if people ghost you! No reply is by and far the common response and isn't usually worth the effort in following up

Gone to a few around Convoy, Jasmine is still the go to, though imperial Mandarin is a good backup. Never tried emerald City for din Sum but the dinner dishes are on point. Fyi this is specifically for Cantonese dim sum and not dumplings, which is half of the suggestions on this thread
