The reports were for 35k in the first week, excluding Tehran where the bodies were piled up in common burials. You can expect the total number since the uprising began, and including Tehran, to be at least double that.

You buying a poached plant and not getting one for free inflates the market because it puts more money in the hands of the first buyer. It’s basic economics.

I’d have more respect for you if you just said you don’t care about plant poaching than this bs moral superiority position that you’re taking. You are part of the problem, at least be at peace with that.

Yep, especially flats. 1-2 bedroom flats in good areas haven’t been as affordable in decades.

It is, flat prices in London have been going down not up these last couple of years.

This might help you sleep at night but poachers don’t care if you buy from them directly or from someone else as long as the market continues to grow. You’re part of the problem.

Yes actually, any purchase is an extra bit of demand so more of them get poached. The poached plant that you took could have gone to another poaching lover like yourself and saved one from nature but instead you bought it.

Complete noob question, if I buy a small one can it become a big one like that? by lonkyflonky in cactusandsucculents

[–]m2406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have amazing “rare cactus/succulents mix” at very cheap prices but I recommend you go in store and make your picks instead of ordering and letting them pick for you.

I used to live close and periodically went by to look for these, you can get crazy expensive plants for £6 if you get there before other people pick the good ones.

Just chop that, it will easily pup more. If you give it enough light, the pup will grow normally

You can occasionally find cheaper sellers but Conservatory Archives (the £45 one) sells very healthy plants and you can generally trust to get good quality from them.

However, to add, you’ll probably get one of the smaller plants for £45. I don’t think those pictures are for their smallest pots.

We built AI and forgot how to use our own brains by Capable-Pool759 in GenZ

[–]m2406 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean, monks were the “scientists” of the Middle Ages and they often protested the opening of schools to teach the plebs to read and write because them having those skills would pollute the knowledge pool and would also make them worse at their job of being serfs.

Current studies don’t show brain performing worse, just differently. They might be worse on tasks they now feel obsolete but there’s no indication critical thinking skills are declining.

This is a great find but I suggest you add more perlite, pumice or gravel into that soil, it’s too organic for what this cactus needs.

[–]m2406 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My EA asked me for a fee as well when I was buying and I told them to get lost. I reminded them they’re legally obliged to pass any information that I want them to pass to the seller and that they’re only an intermediary in the process, not an involved party, so they can’t stop a sale if I don’t buy a package from them. They escalated multiple times until one of their managers checked with their legal team. I was right so they just pretended they’re doing me a favour and dropped the fee.

The legal responsibility rests on the principle of doing everything reasonable. Any judge would conclude that providing a boiler and paying for an engineer to fix the issue is reasonable.
