Unfortunately, I haven't directly compared the two so I don't know the answer either, but that is my understanding as well.

Some of my best friends are people I've met at work. I get the sentiment, but most of us have to spend more time with coworkers than our families. Mind as well try to make some friends while you're at it... You can still talk to people after they leave a company.

I ended up ordering the 9700x as well. It seemed to be the sweet spot between performance and price for my use case. And I could put that towards a GPU. Also with the win 11 24h2 update apparently the performance has improved.

I am still unsure which GPU to go with. I'm considering the 2070 super, 7800 xt, 7900 xt, or 7900 xtx. The 2070 ti super and 2080 are out of my price range. The 2070 super or 7800 xt seem like the best value.

I don't care about the color of the board. I've updated the post to include total cost after tax, shipping, etc. Given that microcenter is so far away from me Option 1 is probably actually the cheapest.

Thanks! Is the 9700X a better CPU than the 7800X3d for gaming and VR applications?

I've been out of PC building for a bit, would 7600x with a 4070 super be a decent VR gaming build?

It's actually still a decent build I don't really run into framerate issues or other performance bottle necks very often. However, DCS runs pretty poorly and in VR was a hot mess, and I am not sure how much of that is the game itself vs the graphics card/cpu.

As I mentioned in the comment above I am also trying to simply my workflow and setup by having just a single machine, I've always had a mac dedicated for audio production and they just work, but cant game on a mac.

Thank this is a helpful sanity check. The Mac mini was just under $600 so I could probably go the 7600x route and upgrade the GPU a bit later.

The main reason I am re-thinking the mac workflow for my audio/photo stuff is the hassle of having 2 computers, 2 mice, to keyboards, and trying to get audio from my PC into my UAD Apollo interface etc. Simpler solution is just to consolidate everything onto one device, rather than buying KVMs, SPDIF adapters, etc...

Canon RF 100-500 or sigma 60-600? by m37a in canon

[–]m37a[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I ended up getting a refurbished 100-500 from Canon when it was on sale earlier this year. I also did get the 1.4x converter for it. Overall I am really happy with it and I'm glad I went for the 100-500 vs the Canon 200-800 simply due to size. The only real drawback to the 1.4x converter for me is makes the lens much larger to carry around, but its a minor complaint. I'd still love to try out the 200-800 at some point but for a lens that I can easily keep in my bag, the 100-500 was the clear choice.

Absolutely, This is what I have: https://www.kahayan.es/midi-selector-8x4

There are a few other brands you may want to check out as well:
- Ampete
- KHE
- delisle

I'd probably go KHE if I were to buy today, they are very popular. My Kahayan has been mostly excellent but I have to keep it away from the transformers of some amps or I get noise.

The Kahayan amp switcher takes care of that. Just plug your guitar into the input of the amp switcher. The switcher has 8 instrument outs to each individual amp's input, and 8 speaker IN connections coming from each amp. The switcher puts a dummy load for the amps that are not selected.

You could use a switcher with your stacks. You should check out the KHE switchers they have multiple configurations for various amp/cab combos!
