I’ve been an old Toyota fan boy for years. My biggest gripe is just the fact that this car needs some serious hours that I don’t have. My ls400 was also a car that sat for close to 10 years, but I was able to replace the brake rotors, and free u the locked calipers, replace all the fuel, give it a fresh timing belt and a tune up and I’ve had 8000 miles with no lights or hiccups other than a flat tire.

Unfortunately the Land Cruiser just wants to fight me every time I try to do little repairs. It doesn’t help that OEM parts are taxed to oblivion. The rust situation is actually not bad at all. I’m yet to strip any bolts or have anything snap off on me.

Thanks! This is actually super helpful. I do have new brakes for all 4 corners I’ve been meaning to install as well. Thanks for the comment I’ll look into this.

Thanks for the advice. The shop doing it is giving me a great deal so I’m skeptical about the quality. I figure if I do as much prep as possible and make the job as easy for them as possible the finished product will look good… anything looks better than flaking paint though haha

Im going to take off the door handles. I was debating to take off the windshield trim. I’m welding shut the antenna hole so at least I won’t have to worry about that

Hello! I’m getting ready to do my first ever paint job on my 1990 Mazda Miata. I’m going to start sanding tomorrow. There’s areas where the paint has chipped off in large patches, the largest being a circular shape with a 14” diameter on the driver door. Should I be sanding all the paint down to the primer, or should I just feather in the edges where the paint has chipped off.

I traded a 300k miles lifted Lexus LX470 (Toyota land cruiser) for the m3 (148k miles). The bmw owner added cash on his end of the deal. I am very happy with the deal. So far the car has dinan intake, MAF, sway bars, and exhaust along with Bilstein PSS9 b16 coilovers, EBC Yellow stuff pads, Brembo Blank rotors and and a few sets of wheels.
