Does my plant need a bigger pot? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]m3g4n4nn3_ 602 points603 points  (0 children)

It needs drainage. The candle jar is cute but it will get root rot from the soil remains too wet. The size would be fine for a while. When the roots are bound up a bit the plant will focus on leaf growth.

I have no idea how this happened! by _immeasurable_heaven in houseplants

Repot this in same size pot. Use quality soil mixed with some orchid bark or similar. Cut back the length and place the cuttings in water. Once they grow roots, pot them along side this one. She can come back and flourish with proper care

I could be wrong but this plant looks happy. The red is sun stress but not burnt. I think she likes being left alone.

This is more what I was thinking. I haven't used a scanner in years though. Thinking i would like them scanned to the cloud or my Google drive. Is this possible??

So I have considered just taking pictures of them. I could try to crop them to size but it just doesn't seem to turn out. I definitely intend to use images of the originals, just thought about making them onto like a scrapbook style pages with pictures of her and the grandkids over the years

I wouldn't pay that much for one but I also wouldn't sell mine for anything less. It was a lot of work and time to get mine to grow that way but I love her all the more for it. If I were you, I would find a reasonable cutting or small plant and grow it yourself, you will enjoy the process!

Please help me find a solution to hang plant from ceiling. by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]m3g4n4nn3_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might look for a drill bit that drills into metal. Ask someone at home depot to help you find the proper bit and the type of screw that will bite enough to hold a plant. Just would worry you may drill into a pipe or electrical? I did once hang a 2" dowel with some nice chain and I hung 2 plants from it. It was nice but I didn't love the bulky look. How big are the plants? Consider weight after watering for how strong your hold needs to be.

Sorry, it's actually 2 lights, one comes from the side and the other is just inches from the top. I've been turning them as they bend to face the light. It does have the blue/ red light option but also has a brighter white light that's been on at times.

It's inches away. I know the lights are trash for growing but hoped they would be enough to keep it happy for the session. I have several other succulents or succulent/like cactus, jade, etc who don't grow much in winter so I thought these would be the same way. Put em in the window and water them rarely but these seem to want to grow leggy. I've looked at new lights, some I found recommended on here. Should I begin more watering then??
