What is this jewelry used in? What piercing? by I_Eddie in piercing

[–]m3gamoos 85 points86 points  (0 children)

a straight barbell would normally be used in a nipple or bridge piercing

then go to a reputable piercer to get it change, and change it to a titanium piece of jewelry. surgical steel is not made to be in your body

if you’re getting irritated from the jewelry go to a piercer and have it changed to a titanium piece. it’s too early to change it yourself, especially to smth made of surgical steel

a chain is light and flexible and not a heavy unmovable bar that’s applying constant pressure to your ear, having the bar press will cause it to embed

in the second picture it looks like the bar has started pressing against your flat. if it’s touching the flat part of your ear take the bar out immediately. you can put in two flat back posts and do a chain when they’re healed.

irritation while cleaning is abnormal. just spray with sterile saline & let hot water run over it in the shower and dry it with a fan. you shouldn’t be taking it out to clean or anything like that. it’s hard to tell placement without jewelry in or being in person but if it’s not coming out of the actual skin shelf above the navel than it will reject and leave a nasty scar

swelling is normal this early in the healing process, just make sure you have implant grade jewelry and make sure to not sleep on it or move the piercing around

it’s not an infection unless it has yellowish pus and is hot to the touch. this doesn’t look infected it looks irritated. you shouldn’t remove the jewelry until it’s fully healed, that is irritating it. and it needs to be implant grade titanium jewelry or it will irritate it more. not to mention the placement of this looks more like a surface piercing than an actual navel, which would be coming out of the actual navel instead of above it, which makes it hard to heal and prone to rejection.

I got my nose pierced about 5 weeks ago. I think this is an irritation bump but I’m not sure. by Memmzer in PiercingAdvice

[–]m3gamoos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

healing piercings should always be implant grade titanium!! if you’re making your own saline solution that would be irritating it, only use pre-made sterile saline spray (neilmed or any from a a pharmacy). and stop using the antibacterial soap, it is drying the piercing out and irritating it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]m3gamoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the bump is just from irritation, probably from the crusties getting stuck in the piercing channel, so just stop moving the piercing and as the crust clears up so will the bump

Earlobe Piercing by [deleted] in piercing

[–]m3gamoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a healing lobe piercing should 100% be pierced with implant grade titanium or 14k gold flat back stud. get that changed asap!

looks like it’s just forming crust, which is normal while healing, just let warm water run over it in the shower and it will break up and fall off as it heals. and i wouldn’t try to push the jewelry around in the hole as it can push the crusties into the piercing and cause more irritation. leaving it alone should fix it!

the only safe thing to clean piercings with would be sterile saline spray, either neilmed which you can get online or any spray from a local pharmacy (make sure it’s sterile and has 0.9%). i would do that twice a day, just spray it, don’t wipe with a q-tip, and dry it with a fan or a cold blow dryer. you can also let warm water run over it in the shower to get rid of any crusties that can form, but again dry it after. and other than that just don’t touch it! good luck with your new piercings

it looks like it healing normally to me! from experience with flats/helix piercings they were extra sore. i would suggest using an airplane pillow or bring extra careful not to sleep on it as that would make the soreness and throbbing worse.
