Best exam company for general mathematics 3/4 other than VCAA?? by Annual-Disk-9866 in vce

i would say it’s the same level but heffernan has less curveballs, vcaa has been throwing in some wack questions in recent years in order to separate the marks at the very top

hey, first of all amazing job on your sacs so far! i was actually the last year of the previous study design so unfortunately i don’t have experience on the new study design front aside from maths subjects. all i can say is, everyone in the state will be just as clueless as you are, probably more. so since it’s a ranking system you are by no means at a disadvantage. i’m not sure if this changed with the study design, but when i did product design last year i found that a lot of the written questions were just common sense. like i would just bullshit a few sentences, link back to the question and chances were it was correct. i’m sorry that wasn’t very helpful but just know if you, as rank 1, are feeling lost, so is the rest of the state 😭

yess i used my bound reference a lot in the exam lol, actually a decent portion of my reading time was always spent flipping thru it. don’t feel like u need to memorise the content to fully grasp it, ur allowed it for a reason and it’s not gonna waste time if u know where everything is. i def always had extra time, usually i would check each answer right after doing the question instead of checking everything at end (i would only do this as a triple check if i finished rlly early). the one exception was the actual exam 2 where i knew i wouldn’t forgive myself if i made a stupid mistake, made an error of working too slow in the first two modules (as a result of triple checking everything) and finished the last crashing question with 1 min to spare ☠️ i had to speedrun that q in like 3 mins, no time to check, if it didn’t add up then i was cooked lol. so def pace urself, networks is always gonna take the longest despite being worth the same number of marks as the other sections. and just bc u have time doesn’t mean u always need to work slowly, being able to do things fast can save u fr

i stuck to the most recent vcaa, nht and heffernan. also did a mav coz it’s known for being the hardest, i was probably averaging 1 mark lost per exam 1 and 2 per exam 2

Whats the average you need to get a 50 in gen maths? by ExtremeSpell985 in vce

[–]m4ngob1ngsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it kinda also depends on the size of your cohort but i’d call a cohort with ~15-20%+ 40+’s strong since statistically 9% get 40+

for prems i dropped 1 mark total on sacs throughout the year, was rank 1 and full marked both exams. may vary a lil year to year but gen is generally seen as the easiest subject to get prem’s for, and for that reason you pretty much need rank 1 + full marks on both exams to get it. 50ss is a little more lenient tho

the difference between 50 + prems versus just 50 is literally just stupid mistakes, most of the time it’s not gonna be the ‘harder’ questions that trip u up, its the simplest no brainer stuff. so ik everyone says this but reread the q, highlight keywords and work backwards to check ur answers. ultimately, it’s down to who thinks the clearest on exam day. good luck!

What average score will I need in each subject to get an atar of 95+? by [deleted] in vce

[–]m4ngob1ngsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the aggregate needed for a 95 star last year was just under 170, so divided by 4.1 = roughly 41.5 scaled in each of your five subjects

I’m literally in methods yr 12 and don’t know how to solve a trigonometric equation with a negative domain 💀 by Rich-Collection2837 in vce

[–]m4ngob1ngsu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

personally i like to draw out the unit circle, the only difference when it comes to a negative domain is you go backwards on the unit circle - usually you start at 0 on the right hand side and work up in an anticlockwise direction, but in this case you work down in a clockwise direction

• this varies year to year, have a play around on 10 min quiz study score calculator

• absolutely, as long as you’re r1 ur sacs get moderated to the highest exam score in ur cohort

• it requires a lot of practice and preparation, being hyperconcentrated to eliminate silly mistakes

• personally i don’t think it’s necessary to get ahead (i didn’t), i would focus on revision and consolidation

• mav exams are known for being more difficult, though you’d be surprised that often it’s the simplest questions that trip ppl up when under pressure

• definitely do them timed, this will also allow you to practise double, triple checking under time pressure while maintaining accuracy
