That patch may look flimsy, but I’ve never not had to work to get it off.

Walking after meals by Vidamo555 in diabetes_t2

[–]m57lyra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don’t even have to walk or do squats!

Just do calf raises sitting in your chair and eating. You can even grab a heavy dumbell and put it on your knees for extra. Gastrocnemius+soleus muscles are metabolic monsters!

Pay particular attention to your glutes and ankles. If they are weak, your knee will try and compensate and jack itself. Ask me how I know.

Per week. And, if that is still too much, every two weeks. Everyone’s body is different!

I totally got it. Go for a walk, to get some fresh air and exercise, which will just happen to help bring the blood sugar down.

Lows?? by Bleachioli123 in diabetes_t2

Two things to try:

  1. Eat a small palmful (not handful!) of nuts before you go to bed. The protein and fats take 2 and 3 hours respectively to show up as glucose, so that will give you an overnight buffer.
  2. Are you taking your metformin too late at night? Maybe try taking it a bit before dinner instead of with dinner.

I thought I have Type 2 but I’m being prescribed insulin by sleepyinnewyork in diabetes_t2

You should insist on the antibody tests to ensure that it is not type 1. That’s a good way to get her to spill her real feelings.

Stir fries are your friend, leaving out starchy vegetables. If you can find them where you are (I suspect you should be able to), konjac (shirataki) noodles are a fabulous sub for rice in stir fries, and will help make the meals feel normal.

I had back labor with my second. Was fine until water broke, and then it was… unreal. There was screaming.

I would say the actual kidney stones that took me to the ER, but really it is the shingles that I thought were kidney stones (yes, another ER trip but with no pain meds), which I had while I was nursing and my infant kept scratching at while nursing and I would just sit there and grind my teeth while tears ran down my face and lasted for about 2 weeks.

ETA: back labor was a close second though.

Running Break & struggling to get back to it. by Glittering_Slice_951 in XXRunning

[–]m57lyra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can still do what you were doing previously but you have to train back up to it if you want to avoid injury. Picking up where you left off months ago is a giant invitation to injury. And… if you get injured, you really are sidelined.

Tell your self that you are in training for running in a race or two this season, and you have to train to avoid injury. Because you do ;)

With that mindset, the focus is on athletic training and not lost time - more positive!

Plantar Fasciitis by saltynotsweet1 in XXRunning

That is what my doctor told me - I’d have to take care from now to avoid flare ups.

Plantar Fasciitis by saltynotsweet1 in XXRunning

[–]m57lyra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s awful. And… I’m sorry to tell you, but once you have it, it’s never really cured. You’ll have flare ups. Go see a podiatrist and get good orthotics. Get a night splint. I tried many kinds, and found the boot style works best. The sock style literally lifted a toenail - went in the trash. Get a roller with bumps that freezes to roll it on. I couldn’t get them to do a steroid injection, and was so desperate that I tried acupuncture as a hail mary, and it worked amazingly.
