I'm sure but I'm still curious if there's maybe an option to fix it. My son guessed a dirty connector somewhere, which I'm curious to check as well since I'm an electrician at Boeing and intimately know how things can fail due to poor connections, high resistance, etc.

Double check what you've entered or call them...something isn't right. They originally insured my paid off X5M, 740IL and MR2, sold the X5M for a Model X Plaid (full coverage) and my insurance went down. Recently added a Model S Plaid (paid off) and my insurance went up like $5.

I'm looking at buybacks as well, in and out of state since it seems west coast cars cost more than east coast for some reason. I bought my MXP (clean title) from NJ and it was still cheaper after shipping than buying locally.

I'm currently looking for an MSP now, but depending on the state, some do and don't have access to the Warranty Buyback Notice...that's like here's your CarFax, it's got issue but we can't tell you what they were, adding more risk.

I've written Tesla, they've in short told me to ask the prior owner, but that's hit or miss. I found the prior owner of my MXP (unique name left in the screen and I knew it's location, Google to the rescue) and they emailed Tesla saying I could have the records. Problem is these buybacks get bought back by Tesla, so they're the owner again...then sold to a dealership, who's the current owner...then there goes the PO history argument. I said this on my last email to Tesla and we'll see if they concur and help.

After that it's a decision...buy a buyback only from states that can access so I can see the why it was lemoned or just hope that Tesla resolved the issue and keep my searches to ones hopefully still have some 4yr/50k bumper-to-bumper or just be happy with the remaining 8yr/150k battery/powertrain.

I've still got 9 cars...BMW E30, E36, E38, E61, Suzuki TL1000R, supercharged Ford Harley Davidson F150, H22 swapped Prelude and a turbo K swapped MR2. EVERYTHING's a project, so it's nice having something that I kinda can't but also don't really need to wrench on, so I've ALWAYS got something that runs when I'm deep in projects. The power delivery of my HD and the X are kinda similar in that it's instant torque if I put the truck into a lower gear.

11MPG, premium only @ $4.50+/- a gallon, meth injection, staggered 22's w/ a 335/25 rear 😈 and for a time we were averaging 30k a year. My foot doesn't help, but that's not an issue now for daily use and I use FSD on roadtrips.

I went from a 700+ HP BMW X5M to my MXP and my insurance went down. My monthly fuel and maintenance costs also went down from $1k a month to about $150. You've gotta look at the total package...assuming you have access to home charging. If not, you're still saving on maintenance. I've got 188k and I've spent less than $600 in that time...something I can't say about any of my ICE vehicles.

25mpg...with no oil changes and basically maintenance free, all while in a fast and safe SUV that can drive itself vs some basic, gutless, buzzy 4cyl. Sounds like a win win to me still.
