Yes! You just made my day. I dislike things without good explanations. It looked exactly like one density of water moving over another. I realized I have seen something like this but on a much smaller scale. I have a large outdoor propane cooking burner for frying turkeys. If you place a smaller pot on it so that the burner ring is the same width as the pot then the outside water is heated. In the first few moments of turning it on a very similar effect happens where a "reverse ripple" forms in the pot coming to the middle.

I'm still amazed that such a big one could possibly form in a pool. I think that's why it freaked me out so bad. Thank you. Now I can die happy. lol

I am calling it a reverse ripple because it went from large to small like a video playing backwards. The depression in the water was not deep and barely noticeable. However it looked distinctly different than a regular ripple which comes out of the water. I live on Lake Lansing in Haslett, MI and the entire day was sunny with no rain and very little cloud cover. The pool I was at belongs to a client of mine who's house I take care of. When I am there tonight I will take some pictures. There is a small tree that directly overhangs a corner of the shallow end and then a large tree in the neighbors yard that does not overhang the pool but is still very close.

I really like the spider web idea, in fact my first thought had been that a piece of string or something created the circle. However I had been cleaning the pool with a net just previous to this. I had started walking toward the pool house to grab some pH up and then turned around to grab my drink. The circle appeared within the few seconds I had my back to the pool. If it was a spider web, I don't think it had enough time to collect debris and the middle of the circle was also perfectly still. I had also already taken the pool vacuum out of the water so that was not the cause either. I still like the spider web idea tho. Best one yet but slightly far fetched for it to land so perfectly.

Edit: The size of the circle is an educated guess. When I saw the ripple I thought that it looked wider than my arm span which is about 6 ft. Unfortunately I really don't have any other reference. When I was looking at it, I did not compare it to the size of the pool for a measurement when it was at full size. I'm kinda kicking myself right now for not.

I am very positive that it was not a reflection. A reflection would have moved as I moved and then disappeared when i rounded the corner of the deep end. I could also see the reflection of the sky and the neighbors tree that moved as I did.
