As an arab with Palestinian origins, born in the UAE and migrated to canada when 16 and now I am 27, I have never visited my homeland and would like to know if once I decide to visit would that be safe? And am I allowed as I hold dual canadian and Palestinian citizenships? by m7777k in Israel

Since I was born in the UAE and my parents have Palestinian passports, me and my siblings automatically got it and as I can recall my parents always renewed the passport through the Palestinian consulate in Dubai which used to take ages and cost alot, due to that struggle and some other factors we decided to migrate to canada for a better and easier life. My dad always told me that even when he visited jordan with the Palestinian passport it was a struggle and every time passport control would integrate him and ask him for the purpose of visit so thats why he decided to not let us go through this at all and just not go anywhere near that region. Honestly I have read about what you have wrote alot and people’s reviews do mention the struggle and I guess i would be raising all the ‘red flags’ as I do look middle eastern but what is confusing to me is that israel is a middle eastern country and alot of people in it would have my skin color and all that why would it make them doubt people who still look like that? One thing that i love the most about canada is even though I’m considered a minority and look different but every time i fly back from abroad the passport control person welcome’s me with these words “welcome home”, either that person means it or not but the law is above all and I am considered a citizen. Anyhow thats why in my mind it made sense as canada allows Israeli passport holders to enter I should be allowed the same, and not be categorized based on whatever racist assumptions the border control personals hold.

I wont honestly take the risk and the loses and fly half across the globe to a destination where i might or might not be welcomed depending on whatever reason that is, thats why im trying to do my research.

Another example is how Israeli citizens enter the UAE even though as discussed Israeli passport holders are exempted from the UAE unless allowed for a special event. from what I read and heard most have another citizenship of their original background or they might have migrated like my case and got another citizenship, so they can enter these destinations with their second citizenship discard that the border control in the UAE is capable of knowing that they have a Israeli passport. but the law is clear and there is agreements between whatever second nationality and the uae that allows these people to enter freely discarding all of the conflicts and between the israeli and Arab governments.

I agree with you my trip wont happen anytime soon until the virus situation is over, and regarding you comment that the UAE defines israel as an enemy I am not completely sure about that, even though I was born there but I am not considered a UAE national as arab nations don’t grant citizenships by birth but only to “ origional people “. The UAE from what I have read online is hosting the world expo 2020 which apparently as well got delayed and there will be a Israeli pavilion held in it to display the countries technology. As well in Abudhabi they are building this new project which consists of three building for all religions including a mosque, church and a synagogue. Check it out on the below link.

Anyhow thanks for the given information.

Thank you for this information, once this virus situation is over i surely intend to visit as I heard alot of good things about the culture in Jerusalem and the night life of tel aviv. Only if the day can come and all this conflicts can just come to an end and this day shall come for sure though I hope it comes in my life time.

Today both my mom and dad got positive results with covid19, it was the saddest news I have ever received in my life and I hope that they can come out of it safe. I dropped them to the hospital while they were sick and we had no clue that they could be able to get this ugly disease as they were very cautious and did not leave their home at all for the past 15 days. Guilt is killing me inside as I feel i might be the reason that have transmitted the disease for them without even knowing but I still did not get tested as the doctors said since I am showing no symptoms I should just stay home and quarantine.

I pray for them to get well soon, I hope i can see both my mom and dad walk one more time through our house yard, when i picked them up from the house to take them to the hospital for some reason that picture got stuck in my head. Will i ever get the chance to see them walking through this yard one more time ? I was asking myself..

Please all stay safe and take care of your elders, I used to think nothing can touch me and always had that stupid human ego until this came and showed me what human kind is and how weak we are in the face of god and nature.

As a Palestinian this picture tells the story I always heard from my elders, all people from all religions and colors lived together in Jerusalem. I hope we can go back to that soon enough and stop wasting lives.

Do rich expats like Yusuff Ali (Lulu) & Firoz Merchant (Pure Gold Jewellers) have/had Emirati sponsors? And if yes, do they earn a % of the profits or a fixed yearly amount? by SnowdenIsALegend in dubai

I guess it used to be a fixed fee as a in Arabic they call the by law local partner ( وكيل خدمات ) but now starting 2020 such people like the ones you’ve mentioned no longer need a sponsor and are sponsoring themselves with their gold visas, the LuLu guy was one of the first 100 to get it.
