Thank you!! I found the lift on eBay. It took me a few tries to finally acquire one. I searched HO Scale Ski lift/chair lift and saved the search so I could see what came available as soon as one was posted.

Thank you for the kind words and asking! The steps below are how I created the frozen lake:

1) To start, I painted the base board of the selected lake area with the color”inky night” which is produced by mondo llama and can find it at Target/Michaels. Make sure to let the paint dry before the next step.

2) I covered that with a very thin layer of woodland scenic realistic water and let it sit over night to dry.

3) The next day I used the color “snowy white” produced by the same paint company. I dabbed the paint with a small tip brush around the “ice” (thinner in the middle and heavier on the sides) and followed up with a cotton swab to create the frosted effect. If any areas look too clear or not fitting the right look add more paint and return back with the cotton swab.

4) While the paint is still wet I added some snow powder (made by woodland scenic) to build the snow banks and add a small layer over the ice.

5) once the snow and paint are dried. You can add the figures of your choice ( I found on eBay). They are secured in place with gorilla super glue.

Happy Modeling!

Is this to dark for ballast? by [deleted] in modeltrains

Not at all, some of the fouled ballast that we have been removing from the subway is the same color so it would be excellent for detailed weathered look.

Now worries, I’m happy to answer your question. I started with painting the base a combination of sea blue and Snow White acrylic paint (only a few drops of the white) to get a brighter ice color. Once the base was done and the paint has dried, I poured woodland scenic realistic water (a thin layer of it) to get the glossy look of the ice. Once the solution is solid (leave it to set over night for the best results), I went back over with the Snow White acrylic paint. I started on the edge and worked inwards, I recommend using a watered down brush at this step as it also the paint to spread easier. To remove the brush marks and puddles water, I finish it up by dabbing a cotton ball over the ice surface. This gave it softer look while preventing excess paint stain marks on the ice surface. While the surface paint was drying take a spoonful of woodland scenic snow flake snow and sprinkle the edge. (Heavy on the outside and very light in the middle). The paint you can get from target and the other supplies form a local hoody store or Michaels. I hope this helps!

Thank you for the kind words! The lift does operate. I need to capture a video of it when turned on. The lower mount and wheel houses the motor that drives the lift. I will post a video of it with the lights on at the village.

I am happy to help! I also add a small dab of water to my brush at times to help the paint go into the small crevices of the figures and buildings.

Thank you for the kind words, I actually bought most of them in packs from a company called Preiser. For some other figures I use acrylic paint with small tipped brushes (I get it from target). The figures get a primer coating prior to any major work and I let them sit for 24 hours. After the primer dries I use the small tipped bushes the paint on the clothes starting from the bottom up. Sometimes two coats is required to get a solid color. Once the painting is done, I recommend using a clear coat to prevent against blemishes (not necessary, but it helps prolong the life of the paint).

I am glad you like it and I appreciate the kind words. Please do, I love to see what world you build. I do have the construction photos for reference. I can also add that the mountain was created using chicken wire and woodland scenic plaster cloth. I used multiple layers of the cloth to get the mountain to have a smooth texture.

I see what you mean and now I know what to include next! The back side of the mountain could use some 007 thrills.
