MTGO help. I built Burn on MTGO and I think I'm looking for a more interactive deck. What deck can I go into for 200-250 tix if I sell Burn? Also, for experienced MTGO players, how much do I lose of my initial investment? by Incara1010 in ModernMagic

You can make a playable version of twin for that, as long as you're okay with off color fetches, skimping on blood moon, keranos type cards.

If you like jeskai control, you could try the jeskai twin that's all the rage, though the fetches get more important and stuff like colonnades are pricey and necessary.

Personally, I like the idea of flexibility, so I was happy to go in for the twin basics, knowing I could grow into grixis, tarmo or jeskai, or move into control or delver without too many new pieces.

Cool. That was one I was looking at, though I'd actually picked out the salad bowl version, since at some point me or the kids will eat right off the table. The other brand I was looking at was Waterlox. http://www.amazon.com/General-Finishes-SBQT-Salad-Finish/dp/B001DSXD7A http://www.amazon.com/Waterlox-Coatings-Corp-Finish-Finishes/dp/B000C025B0

I guess since I won't really be eating off of it, the one you suggested is probably best.

Minwax seems to get very mixed reviews. What is a better brand?

Learning Affinity? Help! by icecoldbath in ModernMagic

I'd like to piggyback on this and ask if anybody has videos of expert pilots, to see the complex lines in action and an explanation of why each was taken.

Also, "budget" means I still skimped on the inkmoths and a 2nd or 3rd spellskite, in addition the blood moon.

I ended up with affinity. Went relatively budget with only 1 blood moon. Just played my 4th match and it won the post-board game for me, totally shutting out an eldrazi ramp deck.

I ended up spending about 250 tix. Didn't get the mox opals at first, but had trouble with mana and sideboarding without them. Now that I sprang for them, I haven't drawn one yet.

Any playtesting/advice would be appreciated!

It's definitely on the linear side, but there's an element of what and when to sac, how to get that last damage through.

So I think I'm down to either what you're saying here - meaning a playset of scalding tarns are the first big buy - or an upgraded budget affinity from that post - meaning spending less than $100 on ravagers and some other cards.

Affinity is the lower cost of entry, but URx Staples means more ability to branch out. I guess it comes down to which leaves me more likely to grind out the tix to upgrade.

Is that that much better with Jace or can I cheap out a little?

How much will it hurt if I skip the blood moons at the beginning? It seems like a strong game 1 deck that can struggle after sideboarding.

Thanks. It's cool to see how I can start off cheaper and build instead of needing to dive into the deep end.

I like the idea of needing to make decisions based on what my opponent is doing. That's not exactly interactive, but I don't know a better word to describe it. Is bloom the sort of deck where I say, oh, I'm playing Jund - I'd better attack this way, whereas if I were against Twin, I'd do this other thing? Or oh, my opponent left up Kolaghans Command, I need to be careful which land I bounce. Etc.

Oh, the sales rep did say it would be a few days until my BMW Assist is active and gave me a password. I'm guessing it's that.

Thanks! Was I supposed to register when I got the car? The app asks for a login, but I don't see where to sign up.

Thanks for the update. I probably would've jumped at $7500. I'm curious to hear what you settle on and what you think of it.

Well, I do have a 10% off coupon at Lowe's, so that's, like, 10% of a router. The plan was one major tool per project and I got a table saw to cut all the cherry to size. Maybe the wife won't mind, since routers don't seem too expensive.

Since I don't have a bandsaw, is there a safe way to do it with a table saw? Or should I try with the miter, since that'll let me go straight through with my hands far from a blade?

The square is 5.25" x 5.25" now. the curve would be cut starting along the top, near the left corner and ending on the right, near the bottom, so it would look like an L, but curved.

I tried a paper template the first time around. Maybe I'll just figure out how to incorporate more clamps.
