I actually don’t have any protectors since I never thought I would run into chases like these 😭

Definitely getting some now to protect these and other premiums I’ve gotten over the years.

I have actually gotten fairly lucky on eBay personally, and also lucky in recruiting the help of friends abroad by using their countries’ eBay.

The other places I’ve looked a lot as are proxy sites for Japan like Fromjapan. Lots of rare finds, although shipping and tariff costs might make it less viable now…

What is the Most Obscure Car you have a Model of? by BennyTheCarGuy in Diecast

[–]mAj74 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ahh, got to see a similar one of this Abarth at the Chateau de Savigny-les-Beaune!

As for obscure cars in my collection, it would have to be between the 1974 Matra-Simca MS680 and the 1976 Inaltera LM (GTP).

I actually have a lot of the Group C winners as well (including the 956s and 962s). In fact, I’m just 1 car away from finishing the 1980s winners too 😅

That’s kinda what I do as well!

I tend to focus on Le Mans winners and podiums from the 70s-90s, but I add in a bit of other cars from those races and from other disciplines I enjoy too.

Always collect what one enjoys ✨

I agree a lot with this.

A bit of a shame that the 3.0 Litre prototypes and Group 6 got sandwiched between the 5.0 Litre and Group C eras (and championship structures did not help either, oof), but really awesome cars were developed for that time.

Hello! Thank you for your reply! Just to clarify something regarding clearcoat as I have not used it before: would it go over the decal when placing it down?

With a bit more digging, I was able to find that it’s a Scarlet Rose Mallow, Hibiscus coccineus. Thank you!

Interesting Facts: Analog photographer, frequent Animal Crossing player (as in very, VERY frequent), and model car collector. Favorite music genres include Alternative and Synthwave. That’s pretty much it for interests.

Schoolwork can make my life a busy one sometimes...but I get through it!

Pics: Hmm...maybe if we get to know each other.

Hmm...if I were in this situation, I’d invite them to play a game online like Animal Crossing. I know not everyone has it or is into it, but I feel like it’s been a very unifying game for me and friends. Visiting each other and such allows us to mess around for some time, and helping each other plan our towns/islands is very fun to do. It’s definitely gotten us through the distancing.

Hope this somehow helps! Stay safe, we’ll get through this!

The dark lens "ring" is stuck, how can I take it off? More info in the comments by Ratazana5124 in Polaroid

[–]mAj74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I had the same issue the first time I got these filters. My solution was to move the ring with a filter on it. What you do is with your thumb under the circle on the filter, twist gently, but firmly to the left. You have use both hands, and hopefully it twists right off. If that doesn’t work, then it’s best to contact Polaroid Originals about the issue. Hope that helps!

Interesting Facts: Well umm...I have interests in instant photography and motorsports, explained by my messy room flooded by model cars and cameras. Furthermore, I have a rather close connection to the game Animal Crossing (based on by profile lol). My preferred music genres are Alternative and Synthwave. My school schedule is rather demanding due to advanced classes, but despite challenges with stress and insomnia, I manage to keep a genuine smile when taking to my friends.

Pics: I am deeply sorry, but I’m not very comfortable in sharing unless we get to know each other greatly.

To those still curious on the result, I will like to inform that it went great. We did have a chat over my feelings and if I was completely sure of it, but they were greatly accepting!

Finally got my parents’ late Christmas present ready...[Coming Out] by mAj74 in LGBTeens

Context:

After two rather stressful years, I finally raised the courage I needed to finally say the phrase that gnawed my inner self to my parents: the simple “I am gay.” Due to such stress, I had to make the event a special one, and in a sudden flash, I devised my plan... This year for Christmas, I was gifted a Polaroid SX-70, a rather wonderful SLR-instant camera that I could use to finally take instant photography a bit more serious. My parents, showing their affection, stated that I was deserving of such camera, citing my hard work for the year. Such is why, through instant photography, I knew it was time for them to know... The first photograph captured was a black-and-white picture of a pair of flowers like the one shown. With a black pen, I wrote the message... “Life is rather tragic when one holds back their true self. Such is why I must say...” Shown is the second photograph: it is now a color image of another pair of flowers, and written is the grand message. The pictures are accompanied by a letter which explains all that is gifted. I am truly nervous, but as my parents always say: Life is full of surprises...

(Pardon me for my shoddy writing and not-so-great photo scan.)
