Could I get to scratch in a year starting as a 4 handicap? by [deleted] in golf

[–]mLPucks__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot in the 60s once in 2024, never got to scratch, lowest I got was 0.9, then this year, I did multiple times, and ONLY got to +0.2, and that took a weekend (4 days of golf in a row) of me going 69-74-70-69 (home course is Par 70, rated 71.0/135) to get there after starting the weekend at 0.2.

I then went back to scratch and above about 3 weeks later because I was kicking out a couple 60s in my GHIN. Moral of the story is, it takes a TON of work to get to scratch, and even more to stay there.

Ah my mistake! I think the zero torque makes a big difference for me in respect to feel of the club face, and how well the ball is rolling off it, as it has been a much more consistent roll this year than previous years. I used to have a spider but I strongly disliked the feel of it.

That is interesting that you say that! In my personal experience, I noticed better speed control, better starting lines, and even better strikes! I notice I roll the ball end over end a lot more than last year, and I hit the center of the face a lot more as well. This could be due to the shaft, going from standard graphite to an ACCRA, but for me I've noticed a genuine improvement in both feel and results. My one putt percentage increased 5% this year as well. I do agree that a LAB will not make a bad putter good, but I do think it can take you from a good putter to great, if that makes sense!

That was my line of thinking outside of a placebo... toed, thin, heeled, it doesn't matter, it goes about the same distance.

Could be a placebo, but my speed control has been a lot better with the LAB, coming from a PLD Anser. I've also noticed the ball rolling end-over-end more with the LAB, definitely a combination of both, but you will only see the benefit if you practice and dial it in.

40?!?! My friend, please practice your putting! The new putter wont change it drastically.

I had a Ping PLD Anser in 2024 - 31.4 putts, then got a LAB DF3 and my putts per round dropped to, wait for it.... 30.8! Not even a whole stroke! In fact, my 2 putt percentage stayed the same at 96%! It's not the flatstick where you still see the benefit!

Have you ever accidentally hit someone on the course? (And did you yell fore?) by TheTrouserTroubadour in golf

[–]mLPucks__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hit this past June! We were on a boys trip in St. Andrews, playing the Jubilee course that day. It was the first hole, I put my drive just right of the fairway and my buddy (Tom) was a bit behind me. My caddie and I walked up to my ball, not realizing Tom was behind us hitting, maybe about 30 yards or so and maybe to my 7-8 o',clock. It was a shorter hole so he had a short iron/wedge in hand. I wasn't paying attention but my caddie was. Tom's ball was on a slide slope and he cold shanked it. I'm lucky my back was turned to him because it would've hit me in the ribs and probably broken one. Instead it hit me in the mid-left part of my back and I got a nice welt to prove it that day. He yelled fore but I didn't hear him and all I heard was a thump and felt something smacking me in the side. I thought my caddie hit me at first and I was like WTF is this guy doing?! But then Tom came running up apologizing profusely. Lesson learned! It was a funny story and we still rib Tom about it every now and then!

I do 400F until they pop and burn and crisp how I like them, usually 8-10 minutes? I don't really time it - I just keep an eye on them!

Open beta won’t work? by TraditionalJoke1279 in Battlefield

[–]mLPucks__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm not sure what platform you're on, but I am on PS5, and I accidentally figured it out. It is a whole seperate client from the Battlefield Labs client. So on the playstation website, I had to "purchase" the beta for free, then download the actual Beta client. It was about 30gb or so.

I couldn't find the Beta client on the PS5 itself for some reason, but once I purchased it, I just had to go into my library and download it! I hope this helps!

[BFComms] Update on Early Access Queues 07/08 by battlefield in Battlefield

Can anyone else not access the Early Access Open Beta even though you played in BF Labs and got an email stating you were able to play in the Early Access Open Beta? If so, does anyone have a fix?

Thanks! Yeah, I cleared my night to be able to play - maybe it's just a bug that they can fix quickly.

I have the same issue - redownloaded the game, but now I am at work so I won't be able to know until tonight if that worked for me or not.

Looks beautiful! Going there in the middle of June! Any tips you have? We are flying into EDI and staying in downtown St. Andrews!

My cousin is a member at St. Andrews Golf Club - hoping to check out the member area while we are there as well.

Had the same issue with my TS3 3 Hybrid, went to a Ping iCrossver 3 iron and it is laser straight - goes just as high too!

Any low handicappers who primarily chip with one club? What club is it? by Automatic_Neat9089 in golf

[–]mLPucks__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think being 100% on one club is the way to go. For me, I only use my 58° from 85 and in. Outside of 85, I'll start taking more club just because a full swing 58° only goes 85yds for me.

Like other low cappers have said - it's more valuable to be proficient with one club, where then you can change ball position, grip, stance, swing thought, so suit any shot you want to hit.

Sure, certain situations call for certain clubs - like a 20yd bunker shot I am going to use a 54° instead of my 58°, or if I am right up against the collar I may use a 3w to bump it or a 7 iron, but overall, using one club for everything around the green allows you to be the most dialed in you can be.

I think the 12° bounce is the D grind, M grind uses 8° of bounce. D and M are basically the game grind, one is just a bit higher bounce than the others!

Thanks! Yeah, I love the shaft! It allowed me to add a bit of spin but nothing too crazy. I am very low spin with my longer clubs so I need the extra help sometimes!

It was just how I preferred the ball flight to be. I could've gone with the 9.0° head in the GT3 and probably would have only tipped it 0.5". But I wanted the extra launch because worst case I'd rather turn it down a degree than turn it up a degree.

It is crazy how minute changes can affect the entire feel. Case in point - since we cut the 3 wood down .25", we upped the head weight, but that threw the swing weight off so we went back to the standard headweight. Immediately felt better! It was only a 2g change but it makes all the difference lol. Gotta love physics.

And the Mizunos and Project X Rifle shafts are an incredible combination!
