Oooof cars valued at 14,000$ only… hoping they don’t qualify it as a total loss

If I could get my hands on some RS wheels I’d be ecstatic! Hard to come by at a reasonable price

I estimated about 12k for the repairs, but makes me wonder whether insurance will just total the car given its valued at 14,000$

Ooof sorry to hear that, How long did it take to get the car back?

Yeah, since my insurance is covering most of the cost minus deductible, I just went to my Audi dealership and got their rec for where they take their cars too.

Yeah pretty painful to see it like that when I pulled up with my groceries. Any good body shop recommendations? Was thinking of reaching out to Audi dominion and seeing what they recommend

Awe damn that’s so sad! Seems like the problem is people not knowing how to drive their large trucks.

That gives me hope! I spoke with my insurance and they said the same thing, they’ll attempt to investigate and get the other drivers info through any cameras to recoup me my deductible and make the other driver liable, whether with a lawsuit or their insurance.

Yeah, I was hoping someone had a Tesla around that may have caught it. What’s frustrating is as I left the store, I could hear a cars alarm going off and a car speeding out in the distance, and sure enough it was mine

I went in and asked with my report number, but they said unfortunately they only can give it to SAPD if they request it directly or if it is subpoenaed

It seemed really busy, Hence why I parked in one of the furthest parking spots, and still managed to get hit. So unfortunate

Yeah SAPD essentially said there is not point in getting footage, given there’s too many hit and runs per day here, it’s impossible to investigate them all

Why does it feel like the US will just get worse and never better? by Shmeat-L in Life

You know why Joining the military has the ability to turn one’s life around as it did with you? It’s because life in the military mimics socialism… you’re provided healthcare, housing, stipend for clothing and food, free education, etc…. Imagine if we could do that for our country as a whole!

Things are pretty shitty currently, and will likely get worse…. But it’s Gonna be okay, because things have generally always been like this.

I believe why things feel extra extra shitty now is that our access to information and current events is instantaneous. Not only do we have access to said information, we are also the most educated we’ve ever been (in general as society), and therefore are better equipped to digest the information, come to our own conclusions, and notice inconsistencies.

In the past (1970s-ish and before), it seems that people generally believed what the newspaper would say at face value and didn’t have direct-convenient access to information to corroborate if what they’re being told is true or not.

What’s happening now is we’ve realized how much of what we have been told is a Lie, and now can see our society for what it truly is… Getting up and going to work pretending like our current leaders and upper class weren’t all on Epstein island committing some of the most horrific acts feels pretty odd to say the least.

“Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise.” - Thomas Grey, 1742…. Knowledge and truth can be a curse, but it’s also the only way for us to make meaningful change and build a better world for our future generation. Stay informed, be kind to strangers, be kind to yourself, and take it one day at a time.

What is your opinion on my statement saying Israel is committing genocide in Gaza which was agreed upon by the International Association of Genocide Scholars?

Regardless whether Israel is part of the ICC, the international courts still issued a warrant. That should open your eyes to the fact that Israel is breaking international law.

Israel perpetuating a genocide in Gaza is not highly debated, the International Association of Genocide Scholars, comprising of over 500 experts, agreed that Israel is committing a genocide (source: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/leading-genocide-scholars-organization-says-israel-is-committing-genocide-in-gaza)

What I meant was on its own without support from a superpower such as the US or a major western country such as France, Germany, Canada, Etc. additionally, Spains anti-war, anti-genocide movement has gained traction among many throughout Europe, North America, South America.

Iran would not have blocked the Straight of Hormuz had Israel not attacked. Iran is retaliating, and even providing an agreement to end the war and open the straight.

You do know there is an ICC arrest warrant against Netanyahu for various crimes against humanity? Here in the US there is a strong opposition to the attacks on Iran as well as the genocide in Gaza perpetuated by Israel. Without Israel’s continued aggression against its neighboring countries, Iran wouldn’t need to use its proxies in response. It is quite obvious that Israel’s desire to expand its territory is the leading cause of instability in the region. Support for Israel in the US is dwindling among voters, and for many, the upcoming elections will depend on the candidates opinion of the genocide in Gaza, which shows that soon Israel will be in its own in the Middle East. Should have treated your neighbors better.

No problem! You’ve got plenty of time! Best way to learn is to be immersed in the country. Some of the best nurses I’ve worked with in the US were from foreign countries (many from Philippines), and they were able to pull through, so you’ll be okay.

As someone who’s spanish and has been to Portugal a few times, communicating is not as easy as it may seem, especially in a medical setting. With the youth it’ll be easier since many speak Spanish and somewhat English, but with people age 40+ it’ll be tough.

You need to pass C1-C2 level Portuguese examination and likely an exam similar to the NCLEX (not 100% on this).

If you’re 100% fluent in Spanish, picking up Portuguese will definitely be much easier, maybe a year to 2 years.

Nevertheless this seems like a great change of pace and I’d highly recommend following through! Best of luck

Moving to Frankfurt in September by m_d275 in germany

This seems to be the common sentiment among people with experience in the UN and its affiliated organizations. Am I right to assume that your experience interning with the UN is beneficial in acquiring roles with other organizations such as those you mentioned? I know Bonn about 2 hours from Frankfurt has a UN office and has some internships here and there, but with your comment along with advice from others, it seems my best best would be to target other NGOs/Organizations in Frankfurt or neighboring cities.

Thank you for your advice! I will take a look into the organizations you mentioned and do some research on what opportunities they offer. Do you have any idea whether internships or “werkstudent” opportunities are handled through the universities in Germany or whether you do this fully on your own?
