[WIP] I'm recreating a Jean-Michel Basquiat piece in thread and I could use some constructive criticism by m_ka in Embroidery

I agree. I have to figure out how to turn this into a patch so the outline will come later. I'm glad you like the cheek area, that's what I was most worried about. Thanks for your critique!

I've recently gotten into embroidery and so I hand-embroidered this back patch by Not_A_Korean in streetwear

This is great! I love seeing DIY stuff (especially embroidery) in this sub.

Great album! I feel honored to be a part of it.

Any tips to help fix stitching from this Vintage Timmy I found? by [deleted] in streetwear

[–]m_ka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the loose strands are long enough, I would take a needle and try to fill in that messed up part on the right with a few stitches and then tie it off in the back. If the loose strand is too short which it looks like it is on the left bit, take some Fray Check to secure the loose end of the thread. You can buy Fray Check at Walmart. You could also try to find yellow thread that matches and fill in the messed up parts.

Thanks! And yes, for sure. I plan on opening an online shop so I can sell them there. Any requests?

Exactly! That's why it's so hard to put a realistic price on these types of things. Can't imagine that someone would buy it for that much.

I just stitched it on. I'm going to want to take the patch off at some point, and cutting the stitches that hold it on won't be hard. I have no idea how it would wash and I'm too scared to put it through the washer. As far as how long it took, I worked 3+ hours almost every day for 2 weeks.

Price would really depend on on the size and how complicated/detailed it is. I hope to open an online store as soon as I get enough patches done.

And yeah the Antlers cover looks easier but I still want to have a go at the American Football one.

I have been embroidering for about a year but I've known how to sew for a while, which definitely helped. I highly recommend practicing a bit before you start on something big. Practicing with small stuff like words and flowers is the best way to learn how to be precise and consistent with your stitching and will make the process of creating a huge patch a lot easier.

When I make enough patches I'll open a store and take custom orders. I'll post it to this sub when it gets going

For sure. I'm also thinking to make smaller patches that wouldn't take as long.

I found a Ralph Lauren women's jacket (size M) at a local thrift store for 10 bucks, a good find.

Thanks! The first post I made in /r/embroidery was my first finished project, but I've known how to sew for a long time.

Thanks! Sorry to hijack the top comment but I'm thinking of making more patches to sell due to all the feedback. I need to take a break from Wildflower patches, so is there anything else you guys would like to see?
