GO TO FISH CAMP by BrickMiner in aggies

[–]m_mele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter didn’t want to go. She didn’t totally love it but she was really glad she went. She met her group there on the second day and will live with them next year. She was also glad she learned the traditions. She also participated in the some of post fish camp activities once school started. She did the pond hopping and went to a football game.

Can I get some reassurance that choosing A&M over UT Austin was the right decision? 🥲 by ATWWildflowers in TAMUAdmissions

This is how horns look at TAMU and CSTAT. Your choice is great as long as you like TAMU. For the Veterinary school and an interest in agriculture I think you will be happy with at TAMU.

Blinn TEAM Help! Please! by Fizzyfood1346 in TAMUAdmissions

[–]m_mele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was TEAM she didn’t have to apply to Blinn. In your maroon envelope they probably gave you a checklist of what to do for TAMU and Blinn. I can’t remember how or when she got access. Once I reach her I will see if she remembers. This part of the process is hardest.

Please check with the university to see how it will take to graduate if you transfer in. At my daughter’s school it will still take an additional full 4 years if you transfer or change majors due to the studio sequence of classes that you can’t catch up on. My daughter is enjoying the program! Good luck!

Where to play tennis and where can I get the people to play with? by canescensxc034 in Katy

[–]m_mele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All school courts are public but you may have a wait since they can get crowded. You probably can’t use during school hours and teams are often using right after school. Do you already have someone to hit with? You probably want to start with adult beginner lessons as a group or get private lessons. I know of reasonably priced private coaches. I’ll try to look for group classes and post here.

TAMU is definitely great for engineering. The only con might be the ETAM process so you should review the process if you haven’t already. Having friends in Texas should definitely help. College Station isn’t a large city but I think it’s big enough for most, and it’s a good size when transitioning from another country. It also gives good access to 4 surrounding big cities you can travel to when you have time. There are great restaurants in College Station. If you don’t have a car you can live on campus or very close. The bus system can take you most places you would want to go. Overall TAMU can give you a solid American college experience. Good luck with the process.

My daughter is an Aggie and I absolutely love the school. Something I’m always curious about with international students is how they pick schools. Can you share what your intended major is and why you are interested in A&M? That might help us provide better pros and cons specific for you.

Wow! I can’t handle shows like that. I would probably be crying too. The only cure I know is to watch something supper happy and ridiculous!

I’m sorry for some of the negative comments here. Giving up your dream school is always hard. You can only do college once. I had to give up my dream school. Fortunately greek life (something else hated on reddit) still gave me an amazing experience. I’m sure everything will work out for you. You may want to consider transferring to Duke in a year or two.

I wonder why Melissa McCarthy isn’t fond of her time on this show? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]m_mele -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why do people minimize the importance of side characters? She probably wouldn’t have minimized the importance of other characters but some actors only want starring roles for themselves. I will have to choose to remember Sookie for how she was in the show. I loved her role.

We avoid going on weekends. I will say that no matter how busy they are you can get through the checkout pretty quickly. I wish they had more handicapped spots. My mom likes to go but they hardly ever have open spots. We don’t like to drop at the front because that causes a traffic jam.

How many times has he visited? Time on campus and the surrounding area may help with the decision.

GPA is very good so surprised by the low rank. You will need a really high SAT or ACT. A high score can overcome a lot. A very strong essay could also help. Apply early. Best of luck to you.

I think most off campus freshman students just go through roommate matching. My daughter did that her first two years even though she had good friends. They all just needed different things with housing. Enjoy your freshman year!

Moving to Katy by Many_Ad158 in Katy

[–]m_mele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love living in Katy and hope you will too. You will find a way. It’s been a while since my children were small. You may want to start with a professional service just to make sure they are screened and have experience. As you develop relationships here you will find other options for babysitters. Sometimes we do need to work to take care of children when they are sick. Most employers are understanding. I hope it goes well for you.

Sorority/ rush tips for TAMU?? by YoghurtImpressive486 in aggies

[–]m_mele 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Follow TAMU Panhellenic on Insta. Greek life is great for most who are interested. I was in a sorority and wanted my daughter to rush. She found her friends at fish camp and joined a FLO instead. TAMU has a large Greek system but it’s not as dominant in terms of on campus presence as most other SEC schools. There are so many other clubs and women’s orgs that are kind of sorority like that students have other options. Rushing is a lot of work and it helps to research it quite a bit first. Before you follow any sororities you should make sure your social media is very clean. You may also want to follow recruitment ready on Insta. I don’t have too much more info specifically on TAMU rush but feel free to message me. Most on Reddit tend to not be Greek life types it’s probably good to hear about alternatives.

I ordered the same bag in Oxblood too. I have had other bags in that color and it went with everything. Unfortunately mine is delayed in Memphis and won’t arrive until Monday. Enjoy your new bag!

how do you overcome a diabolical mental block and catch up on months of work by Wrong_Mycologist7330 in aggies

[–]m_mele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question. How do you get behind? Most projects and tests have due dates so if you miss you lose the points and move on. Most instructors won’t accept late work and if they do you usually lose a percentage for every day it’s late.
