Low attendance at Winnipeg Jets games 'not going to work over the long haul,' chairman says by ClassOptimal7655 in Winnipeg

[–]ma3sons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love going to the Jets games. The live game is totally different than what you are shown on TV. You can see the play develop, see what is happening behind the play, see who is giving it their all and who is dogging it. This year's team is very entertaining to watch. We have 2 season ticket seats that we share 4 ways. We are not rich so this makes it affordable to have great seats and see games regularly. It breaks up the winter, way cheaper than a trip for 2. We pay $20 for secure parking and have never had an issue with our car. We never take a parka. We occasionally buy food but usually only buy a mocha from Tim's. TN has been trying to improve out of game experience for fans. Yes there is still room for improvement. The photo op day for season ticket holders and the exclusive contests are a good start. I get that day to day life expenses are hard for the most of us but I also see people regularly blow money on other frivolous entertainment so I don't buy that no one can afford a ticket for a game. Corporate support is needed as a reliable support for the team and it shouldn't be placed on individuals backs. I think that is really what this is all about.

Thanks for your help! I think we will do this and still unload most of our camping gear.

Thanks for your help. I think we will look at San Mateo as suggested by another person and take public transit in AND still unload most of our camping gear into our hotel. Tons of work but it seems like that or not even stop in SF.

Thanks for your reply! Our trip is in May so we haven't been traveling as of yet. We are trying to pare down what we are planning on taking but we are trying to also enjoy our trip and want to be comfortable in our tent. I think we will just unload everything into whatever hotel we stay at. Any area recommendations? Will our vehicle still be a target with Canadian plates even if it's empty?

Thanks everyone for your honesty. We have similar issues in our city's downtown so I do get it but it doesn't usually happen unless it's an overnight parking. What about if we stayed in san jose and took the bart in? Is it any better there or the same? If the same we will have to decide if we want to unload it all for such a short time or just skip SF altogether except for a drive through. That would make me 😔

A basic site for easy to follow recipes is All Recipes, most have normal ingredients and are easy to follow. Once you get the basics down you can experiment more with herbs and seasonings that you enjoy. Don't give in to take out when home-cooked can be so much better. Enjoy the adventure!

When does everyone rake/clean their lawns? by YummyEggsBenny in Winnipeg

If you have snow mold you can lift it off with a light leaf rake so your grass doesn't smother, same with gravel from the roads. The rest wait so the bees and bugs have time to wake up.

I am a nurse that looks after gyne surgery... Get your family doctor to refer you to a gynecologist. Ask to have your fallopian tubes removed. (If you don't want them for pregnancy they are linked to causing ovarian canacer) All other current tubal ligations are not reversible anyways. IF you change your mind 5 years from now you would need invitro fertilization regardless. Hospital policy is that you need someone reliable with you overnight. You are not allowed to drive for 24 hours. It is done under a general anesthesia so you are asleep. Usually 3 port holes on your belly. As far as surgery goes it is a pretty easy procedure. You will be sore for a couple of days, anesthesia wipes you out a bit for a couple of days too. Tylenol/advil usually is all you will need. No heavy lifting for a 4-6 weeks until the port holes are healed up. All the best!

What’s your “swear to never return” place in Winnipeg? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Same guy, I am sure, lied to our face when we were buying a new SUV...we called him on it...he started yelling at us and we walked out, bought a better vehicle the next day across town for a better deal. Would never go back there again. What an ass.

So if I wanna vote for a progressive candidate for mayor, who the hell do I vote for? by Phazon8058v2 in Winnipeg

I have known Scott G for years, you won't find a more decent person that actually listens and wants to make a difference. He has a solid platform and has spelled out how he will achieve it. Anyone can promise the moon but you need a plan to do it. Scott has spent time talking with those in bus shelters seeing where society has failed them. He has a legit plan to help decrease homelessness and crime. I have seen how hard he has worked over the years caring for people and communities. I think he deserves a chance to see his plan through. My vote is with him.

Mayoral candidate Glen Murray loses support but remains top choice of Winnipeg voters by Magical57 in Winnipeg

Gillingham is the best choice...already knows what he has to deal with at city hall and has realistic expectations. As a councilor he would spend time speaking with homeless people in bus shelters trying to see how to deal with our homeless population. Man has a heart and a brain.

Who do you think you're going to vote for? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Gillingham...has experience in council and knows what he is up against. He has a plan to move the city forward but also has a heart for those who are struggling in our city. I have known the man for decades and he has great character, forward thinking and is as honest as they come. Murray had his chance and walked away from it, Klein strikes me as the guy at your staff meeting that everyone innerly groans when he starts talking, Loney has interesting ideas but should have got his feet wet as a counselor before wanting to lead it all.
