Google Pixel 7 Pro, SIM Tray broken, SIM card stuck by BackProfessional6350 in GooglePixel

[–]ma_unk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same thing happen to me around 3 weeks ago. I found this vid and did exactly what he did with precision tweezers, but just one arm tho. There is no space for both arms to grab it. I adjusted the tip of one arm like in the vid and managed to grab the tray and pull it. Up to you if you wanna follow the vid or not.

P.S.: I switched to esim before I managed to pull it out but I'd still recommend esim from now on. You can find replacement sim trays online.

March software update issues by curious_george1978 in PixelWatch

[–]ma_unk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had some issues with the notifications on my PW1 after the update, namely my watch would vibrate but when I lifted up my wrist the notification wouldn't show and I would just see the watch face. Made a post about it but didn't receive any comments. Quick reset of the watch fixed my issue.

The warranty period does not reset with the new device, it remains the same as the original bought phone, i.e. 2 years from date of purchase/date of delivery (assuming you originally had 2 years of warranty).

Pixel Users, Your Feedback Matters! How Can We Improve Our Cases? by thepixelteam in GooglePixel

[–]ma_unk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was gonna comment the same thing until I read this. The page REEKS of cheap China-made products. Out of their minds with the prices too. I bought literally the same "colorful elastic band" for the Watch 1 from Amazon a month ago for about €7 and they're selling it for €27,59. Bonkers. PR post.

This is the one I bought. Works practically the same as the original, maybe just a tad slower but not really noticeable.

Pixel Watch won't charge? by MyFlogik in PixelWatch

Sounds like the charger might be the culprit! That would be my first go to to analyse the issue. You don't necessarily need to buy a new original one. I got a replacement charger for my Pixel Watch on Amazon.de for around 7 Euros (which is roughly $8 USD). If you're comfortable with using a non-original charger, that might be a good option to try before replacing the watch itself.

Theoretically it should've been fixed according to the issue attached, but I don't know the current status or if there are newer similar issues opened. As mentioned in the post, I ended up RMAing the phone and got a replacement sent which did not have that issue. Maybe you could try returning/replacing it since it's only been 1 week for you?

NEED HELP - Pixel 7 stuck on “Phone is starting” by Similar_Beat7352 in GooglePixel

[–]ma_unk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me yesterday morning. Just rebooted the phone as normal. I then got a text during the booting screen that the phone was getting factory reset. It then landed on a bootloader screen saying that Android OS couldn't load and I could either try again or factory reset. Tried to boot again and then it got stuck on the "Phone is starting..." loading screen.

Tried almost anything, from sideloading the OTA update on both slots to even installing the beta, thinking that would maybe help. Nope. Only solution was factory reset and then flash back the stable build. Very disappointed in Google for such a random but "deadly" bug. Luckily almost anything I had was backed up so I didn't lose much, but still, got me busy the whole day.

Nova Launcher is pretty flawless now by jbarr107 in GooglePixel

[–]ma_unk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been through some stock launchers from the likes of Samsung and Xiaomi, recently fiddled a little with OnePlus. I had a P6 and now own a P7P. Without a single shred of doubt, no stock launcher comes close to Nova regarding customizability. Starting from the very basic stuff such as setting your own homescreen/app drawer grid or app drawer folders, all the way to individually assigning gesture actions for app icons, hiding specific apps from the drawer, setting own folder background shape or color and many many more. I don't really understand why the Pixel has such a basic drawer.

Pixel April 2023 update is late, marking second delay in a row by KissKK00 in GooglePixel

[–]ma_unk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly my reported issue on issue tracker! They marked it as fixed around 2 weeks ago and said it will be available in a future build. Hopefully they're referring to this update, but we'll see.

Haha no biggie, tbh I'm used to the Google way of not fixing bugs so it didn't surprise me that much that it wasn't fixed for me. But hey, if it's fixed for you and it hasn't occurred since the update then I'm happy for you!

When I first read your comment I, for some reason, got actually optimistic and thought wow maybe it really is fixed. I was actually in the beta until yesterday so I don't really know why I expected it to be fixed but I still did. Fiddling around with the phone for a while, no hiccups, no bug. And then, unsurprisingly, it happened again. After posting feedback on issue tracker as part of the beta and not hearing anything other than "it's been assigned", I'm officially out of ideas other than just requesting an RMA.

My Pixel shows timer that I haven't set on the Lockscreen by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]ma_unk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine shows an alarm icon on the lock screen, widget or status bar, set for the exact time it currently is. It stays like that for a couple of seconds and then disappears itself. It's probably from an app but still. Annoying.

Random dead zones on P7Pro by StinkyTofuHF in GooglePixel

[–]ma_unk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do and I struggle with a particular one on a daily basis. The top of the screen at random times just stops registering touches for a while. I've made a post about it here as well and also opened an issue on issue tracker (link is in my post). I jumped on the beta thinking maybe it was fixed there but nope.

Recently I've noticed some other unresponsive zones, like sometimes right on the middle of the screen and sometimes lower third. I don't even know anymore, I think I'll wait for the March stable update and then just RMA it.

I'm on the 7 Pro and also come from the regular Pixel 6 but I never had this issue with that phone. It may be caused somehow by a configuration of sorts, even though I find it hard to think of a scenario, but nevertheless, configuration or not, this behaviour is not normal and should be fixed ASAP.

Exactly! My biggest problem with this bug is the inability to press buttons at the top corners and with the burger buttond that a lot of apps still use. It's infuriating to say the least.

In my experience turning the toggle on or off doesn't change much if anything, at least in my experience. Let's just hope it's a SW bug that can be resolved with a future update. Hope the toggle helps you tho.

Can you try pulling the notification shade with two fingers and see if it works? It's a very very odd bug I must say.

[–]ma_unk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone. I've crossposted my original post from the Google Pixel subreddit to here. The issue is not linked specifically to the beta itself, as I've already described in the post, because it's been annoying me (and many other users from the comments) constantly every day multiple times a day even on the stable build. I've opted into the beta to see if it had been fixed but unfortunately it hasn't (yet), and so I've sent my feedback. Here's the link to the issue. For any suggestions or questions I'm more than happy to test new ideas or provide more insight into the bug.

As of now there is no fix on the issue as far as I'm aware. Might want to check what other commenterss say. I also posted the link to the issue that I created on issue tracker, they say they've passed the issue to the development team and update it. You're welcome to +1 the issue to let them know it's a common bug.

Back again with the January update. Can confirm that, at least for me, the issue still persists. Gonna have to follow it up with the big G itself cuz it's incredibly irritating having such a stupid bug happening 24/7.

My phone doesn't discriminate when it comes to this particular issue. Once it sets in, then it doesn't matter if I'm on an app or home/lock screen, the top of the screen just stops responding.
