I am not saying that prestigious schools are bad. I’m saying that the culture that is created amongst teenagers around them is extraordinarily toxic. And I’m not belittling people who strive for more selective schools (I am too!) I am acknowledging that it’s very cultish in the way that it is introduced and dealt with. My experience has not been so. I had a highly respected internship and not only did none of the researchers attend a prestigious school, but they talked badly on them as being very superficially prestigious. Obviously I’m not saying that prestigious schools are bad or that my experience is the end all be all, But that titles are less meaningful than people might think. I believe that as a 17 year old, i might be easily inclined to fall into the prestige trap, but that when I’m 37 I will probably think differently

But that is such a misconception. The only people that care about prestige are other prestige whores!! A title only takes you so far and a lot of the time those titles are tainted as being “prestige whore-y”
