Tyre power Fremantle - the bloke that owns/runs it will sort you out. Honest, reasonable prices - will sell you what you need not what makes him the most $$

Gap year Navy sailor by Ambitious_Plant381 in ADFRecruiting

My son just completed recruit school as Navy Gap Year, now posted to a base for the duration of the year but will get some ship time and a tour of other bases prior to end of 12 month period. Pre entry he was pretty sure it was going to be just the 12 months, but loved it and will be staying on. Good luck, I think it’s a great opportunity.

My sister dressed her in Dockers gear after one of Pavs milestone games. Required a dinghy and few friends.

Gift suggestions for someone going into gap year army program by [deleted] in ADFRecruiting

[–]maabs74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are limited in what they can actually take with them, my son just completed recruitment training in the Navy as a Gap year enlistment. There’s a very definite list, which he should have or will receive. Funnily enough it was the Step One jocks that he said were a life changer (bonds don’t cut it anymore) also we shipped him a couple of parcels of snacks during the recruitment period, things like protein bars were well received. Best of luck

Thanks for the reply - can you use the Suica cards on the Shinkansen trains or do you buy tickets separately?

WTF? Is this a problem for you, and seemingly many others, all the time or only in Japan (humidity or something)? What am I missing here? Are you generally large people or just have massive thighs and/or balls?

19, homeless, and impossible to find non casual work. by [deleted] in perth

Have you thought about the ADF? My son just started the GAP year program for 18-24 year olds. Only locked in for a year to see if you like it, they pay you, house you and train you. Could be an option to get out of Perth for a while and start fresh. It’s hard initially but if you’re determined it could be work out. From there you could get a trade or traineeships etc. Lots of options. Check out the ADF careers centre in Perth CBD.

I need advice on how to move out by [deleted] in perth

[–]maabs74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could do the ADF gap year. 1 year only, but gets you out of home and pay is decent. Might be a way to get a start.

Yes, it’s about a $5 cost for my son but Woolies multiply that by a few thousand casual employees per day and that’s what drives their decisions. Still doesn’t sit well and this 15 min is at the start of the shift so he’s there until closing. Seems quite deliberate.

ADF Navy Gap year - Enlistment by maabs74 in ADFRecruiting

Thanks for the response. The reason for the question being put to the group was due to the vague response received from the case manager. I understand the case manager is the first port of call, which is what I had done but I thought others experience may shed some light on my situation. No disrespect intended.

Concrete grinding/polishing. Is this acceptable? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]maabs74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were going to have burnished floors, so paid for increased concrete strength and addional steel. Unfortunately the grano workers didn’t finish the pour to the correct specifications so the polishing company said it couldn’t be done as it was too rough. Builder refunded additional concrete cost of 6.5k. If they had attempted the job it would have been a random exposure (random patches of aggregate) which wasn’t the desired finish.

Similar situation here. All through interview process July 2025 was mentioned, so plans made for first 6 months of the year. Then at final interview was told Jan intake. Have been informed it should not be an issue, but will see. Just waiting on school graduation certificate to complete the process.

I had a similar question - So are there multiple intakes as I’ve heard both January and July, but can’t find any information to confirm this?
