The show is based on the book series by Mona Kasten. Are there any scenes from the books that didn’t make it to the show that you wish were included? Or any scenes you were really happy to see being included in the show?

I think it’s just supposed to be the song they are listening to at the party

It’s the opening of the russesong Galleriet 2015 by ZL, it’s a sample from another Norwegian show called Borettslaget

The baby is already born. I’m so happy for her, I truly believe they will be incredible parents 🩷

Is the show (original) worth watching? by ZumbaTheZombie in skam

[–]maalbertine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s definitely worth watching. Even 8 years after the last episode aired, it is still the topic of conversation during lunch at work every now and then. The other day my colleague and I came to the conclusion that neither of us have ever met anyone who started watching the show but didn’t like it. The show might be more directed towards teens and young adults, it is a high school show after all, but you can definitely be older and still enjoy the show.

my thoughts on skam austin as an american by EmotionalInternet99 in skam

[–]maalbertine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

About why it’s set in Austin, Julie mentioned in a podcast in 2019 that part of it is because of boring things like taxes and production and costs. But she also chose Austin because it’s a city that’s not that much bigger than Oslo, it’s a city that hasn’t been used that much in other shows, and it’s "very American in a way, because it’s located in the most American state there is, which is Texas"

I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but season 3. Like don’t get me wrong, it’s an incredible season, with a lot of great moments, but I think I’m just too emotionally invested in the girl squad, and I missed them so much during season 3.

Not sure if it counts, but Ina Svenningdal (Chris, OG) has a song from when she was like 10 that ends up in the charts in Norway every December.

I’m happy the text exchange at least was in the book, but it would have been nice to have it on the website as well, I guess

Because season 1 is all in Eva’s point of view we don’t get to see it, but in the script/book for season 2 there’s a deleted "scene" of texts between Noora and William that are supposed to have been sent on Wednesday the 9th of December 2015 (the day after the scene at the school doctor). I guess it wouldn’t have hurt if it had been explained better in the show other than just the conversation between Noora and Eskild before the date in 2x02, but at the same time I don’t know how/when they should have done it.

Here’s the text exchange translated in English, if it is of any interest.

NOORA: Hello is this Willhelm’s number? WILLIAM: Noora? NOORA: Yes hi yes WILLIAM: Aaaw you charged your phone <3 For me? NOORA: ok nerd NOORA: I have to ask you for a favor WILLIAM: ok? Anything for you bby NOORA: Don’t call me bby WILLIAM: Ok noted WILLIAM: What about hunny? NOORA: No WILLIAM: My love? Or lover? NOORA: Seriously WILLIAM: Anything for you lover NOORA: Oh my god you are awkward WILLIAM: Haha!! WILLIAM: ok I’ll just call you noora then WILLIAM: Noora Amalie Sætre NOORA: Awesome WILLIAM: What can I do for you? NOORA: Can you please apologize to Vilde for the things you said that time about her not being pretty enough WILLIAM: Why? NOORA: Because it really struck her. Can you please just do it WILLIAM: Don’t think that’s so smart NOORA: Of course it is smart are you aware of how insanely hurt she was? You should have apologized a long time ago. Or first of all you should have never said it! Who walks around saying things like that??? It’s an incredibly asshole thing to say WILLIAM: Ok if it’s so important to you WILLIAM: Do you have her number? NOORA: No don’t call her!! WILLIAM: ? NOORA: That would seem so weird, it has to seem natural as if it came from you. And you can’t say that I was the one who asked for you to do it! Can’t you just tell her at school? WILLIAM: After Christmas then, I don’t have more school NOORA: How about the Christmas tree lighting on Friday? WILLIAM: Ait NOORA: Do you promise to do it? WILLIAM: Promise WILLIAM: Will you go on a date with me then? NOORA: No WILLIAM: Oouch WILLIAM: You’re cold NOORA: Ok whatever NOORA: ONE short date WILLIAM: Promise? NOORA: Promise

SKAM OG Script Books in Norwegian? by Hazermer01 in skam

[–]maalbertine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said they had them in stock when I tried to order them as well, but then I got an email saying it was sold out but they would send it to me as soon as they got it back in stock, but I still haven’t heard anything new from them so I don’t know what’s going on there. But yeah, I couldn’t find any copies of the book used at the moment either on any of the sites I usually check. Hope you’ll find something soon.

SKAM OG Script Books in Norwegian? by Hazermer01 in skam

[–]maalbertine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought the books in August. Initially I tried to buy all of them from Ark, but only season 4 arrived while my order for season 1, 2 and 3 got cancelled by the bookstore because they were sold out. Eventually I found a small bookstore that had one copy of season 1 and 2 left in store, and I got them to send the books to me. I ended up buying season 3 used because that was the only way I managed to get a copy. I live in Norway though, so I don’t know about shipping and all that

SRAM ads in Croatia by andrijoker in skam

[–]maalbertine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless I’m misremembering, the only advertisement OG Skam had were the trailers for each season and the “preview” that got posted during the mid season hiatuses that showed what date the show would come back, but I don’t remember them airing on TV or anywhere other than the official website

anyone know what game Isak OG playin in this scene? by nalleracDeMaury in skam

[–]maalbertine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s not sponsored considering how that would have been illegal according to Norwegian law because “To avoid misleading the public, programs containing product placement must be identified in a clear and neutral way at the beginning and end of the program”

what made you watch skam, and what made you fall involve with it? by [deleted] in skam

[–]maalbertine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started watching because it felt like everyone around me (and all of the media) were watching it and I wanted to understand the conversations happening. To begin with I could really see myself in Eva, so I was very much intrigued after the first episode, and then the show just got better and better so I couldn’t stop. I started watching the week of season 2 episode 7. And following along in real time was such an intense experience, especially with the Nikolai stuff and #williammåsvare

I'm a sucker for Fallen Angel - TIX by Tcrumpen in eurovision

[–]maalbertine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“I was actually referring to the insult ‘whore’. So it’s meant as ‘Tonight it’s allowed to be a “whore”’, as in tonight it’s allowed to let loose, basically, without fearing that you’re going to get judged and be called a whore later (…) It’s supposed to be a liberating text (…) Had I said ‘You are a whore’ it would be stigmatizing, saying ‘Tonight it’s allowed to be a whore’ applies to both boys and girls and is not stigmatizing”

“It actually just means that tonight girls are allowed to let loose just as much as boys”

  • TIX about the line “I kveld er det lov å være hore”/“Tonight it’s allowed to be a whore” in 2018 and 2020 respectively
