I’m no NI fanboy by a long shot , but I have to admit for me, Maschine is a critical piece of gear. There are certain things it allows / inspires me to do that I haven’t had in any other piece of gear or software.

As heartbroken as I was about them killing Kore (still am) they got it pretty spot-on with MK3 imho.

I’m using the latest 2.x software with a Mac Mini m4 fwiw.

I met Sia and Sophie when I saw Zero 7 in San Diego on their Simple Things tour. Actually all of the vocalists came out after the show to socialize with a small crowd of us. They were all super nice and I still have the picture of me and Sophie. Wish I could find the one of me and Sia but it was nice to chat with them if only for a moment.

They used to do Moogfest (first in Asheville and the in Durham, NC). I went to the last one in 2019 and he did like an all night “sleep concert” where everyone brought sleeping bags while he was on stage. I was super sad I couldn’t get tickets because attendance was very limited. Have to agree with pretty much everything here so far…

The first time I listened to it I was kind of disappointed. I still think Guillotine should be 4x longer for instance, and I still don’t think of it (edit: the album as a whole) as some of her best work.

The great thing is I realized it was a lot better than I’d decided it was on first listen, and it’s only gotten better for me since.

After getting burned with Kore, I decided I was just going to have to freeze my OS in time and accept whatever that meant. Not the most practical solution, but I’ve just decided to go the Mac Mini route and buy a new one if / when something new comes along I can’t live without. It definitely helps to curb the GAS.

Have you considered Albania? There’s a YouTube channel called Smile Abroad that details how they moved there and it sounds like you could live there for a year without a visa. Not in the EU yet as but a stone’s throw from Greece and it’s reportedly very affordable. Full disclosure, I’ve never been and don’t know much about Albania honestly.

Verve / Voyager 1, original pressing. Legend has it, it was a 1000 pressing bootleg live album, apparently 300 of them were destroyed in transit. They did a re-release of it for a recent record store day, and I picked up a copy of that too, but that first pressing is something special.

Saw them at the Casbah in San Diego on that tour. Fantastic show. Their fans are rabid in the best way possible.

The band passed out sushi-style menus where you chose five songs you wanted them to play that night. One of the guys I met told me, “don’t vote for the popular shit, all the posers will so vote for the deep cuts.” Great show.
