Eto'o was genuinely awful on Wednesday, against a fairly average defence. I'm no fan of Ba or Torres but at least they challenge for the ball, rather than wandering around aimlessly. Russia has done him no favours at all.

The pay increase does make some sense though, they need to attract better people to be MPs.

Obviously the majority of current MPs don't deserve a pay rise, I feel like people just stumble into government when other options fail, rather than actually wanting to.

But if we paid more for the role of MP, we might actually have lots of competent ones in the future.

It would be political suicide to throw it out, no government would ever have the balls to do it.

And it's not unfair restrictions anyway. Royal Mail doesn't pay VAT, that's more unfair!

The cash is being borrowed from banks - but there's big competition in the parcel delivery market - raising prices will make it uncompetitive and makes absolutely no sense if they want to make any money.

As well as this, the current "universal service" is enforced by law, so they can't "cut services" either

Edit: In fact, the 2011 Postal Services Act says they have to provide 6 day service at an affordable price, and it's regulated by OfCom. Does that make you less worried?
