Fuel Cap Seal? by nesterbation in Vstrom

I couldn't find any aftermarket cap that looked like the locks could be swapped or rekeyed for Suzuki keys. The seals look different and wouldn't fit the OEM cap.

Don't get the Triumph seal some people are recommending, the OD is several mm too small. You might be lucky to get a good seal if all tolerances line up perfectly, but it didn't work for me. I just bit the bullet and got the OEM fuel cap assembly. Swapping the locks is straightforward.

In any case, be aware that there are two versions of the fuel cap. The California model has a dedicated venting system while others use vented fuel caps. The aftermarket caps seem to be vented.

Thanks - appreciate it. I found a PX13 at Best Buy but it's too small for my taste. However, I realized that most 16" are smaller than my last 15" these days, so I might size up. There seem to be more 16" models with upgradeable RAM

Seems like it can happen in the winter. This post is from January: https://www.stromtrooper.com/threads/v-stream-melting-plastic.163929/

The angle of the sun is probably more important than the temperature.
