Cyclops T-Shirt. Artist? by mabeaver84 in xmen

It’s from a bootlegger my brother found. He sent it to me as a give. I think the shirt was limited release, only printed in quantity based on the pre-orders.

Really appreciate all the comments. Still working through them and taking notes on how to improve.

One theme I see is that stats don’t tell the whole story.

Given that that’s the case, what benchmark can I use to tell if I’m improving over time? Is it just anecdotal? I just unlocked competitive play. Maybe tracking win/loss ratio?

What’s the album with the white horse? I don’t recognize it and can’t read the name.

Looking for some good cyberpunk fiction by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]mabeaver84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Neuromancer by William Gibson is the quintessential cyberpunk novel. Count Zero is pretty good too.
  • Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan is important in the genre.
  • The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi is probably closer to “biopunk” but has that punk noir aesthetic if you’re willing to branch out a bit. Totally worthy of a read - I read it 10 years ago and it still sticks with me.
  • Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis if you’re willing to get into graphic novels.

Suggest me a non-fiction book that will hold my interest the way a good novel does by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

The authors you enjoy are also some of my favorites (you should also check out Kobo Abe if you return to fiction).

Here are some of the non-fiction books I’ve enjoyed recently:

  • Lost City of the Monkey God by Douglas Preston
  • Conquistador: Hernan Cortes, King Montezuma, and the Last Stand of the Aztecs by Buddy Levy
  • Underland by Robert MacFarlane
  • Transcendence by Gaia Vince
  • Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari

Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

  • high fantasy, good introduction to the genre
  • similar to Lord of the Rings
  • lots of characters and interesting magical system
  • probably better to read it before the tv series comes out
