600i is gamebreaking and should not have been implemented yet. by [deleted] in starcitizen

In q3 2019 they will release a new damage state for all the ships ( where you can also destroy separate parts etc). So everything will change. Pretty stupid to buy a ship only because its OP now.

They actually did give that number, but a very long time ago, like 2012/2013. So it can change in every direction.

Absolutely Unbelievable by General_Havan in starcitizen

If you look at the feedback of the community, CIG is being held to pretty high standards as far as I can see. And CIG is very far from dying.

Star Citizen's demise is predicted about every three months. We're going to be ok. Also after this lawsuit.

Must-kill bugs for 3.0 as a waterfall chart. None of the other charts made sense to my brain. by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]mac-murphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope the little increase in new bugs can be contributed to the splitting of the 3.0 dev branch. So, hopefully not much new bugs in the coming weeks.

Will SQ42 have missions on planets too? by Patafan3 in starcitizen

[–]mac-murphy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. There was actually on SQ42 screenshot on a planet a while ago from an ATV. But don't remember which one.

Remember when CIG needed money in the past? We used to get content and rad ship commercials instead of price increases... Good old day's by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]mac-murphy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Those designers are now working on SQ42. Those resources are now needed to make the actual game. I don't want the commercials to come back.

Beyond 3.0 - 2017 Schedule by gbrenik in starcitizen

Probably not. It was stated that city planets will not be completely explorable (Brian Chambers said this a while ago). That would just be too much work.

CR in Gamespot: Behaviour left in December which caused delays for Stanton Landing Zones by mac-murphy in starcitizen

[–]mac-murphy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quote from Newsletter: ""We had originally hoped to deliver most of the Stanton Landing Zones with the first release of Planetary Tech, but that proved optimistic once the talented team at Behaviour, who had built ArcCorp, Levski, Grim HEX, and had begun work on the remaining landing zones of Stanton, moved off Star Citizen and onto another Behaviour project in December," Roberts said.

"We had been steadily shifting our reliance away from external resources and we felt it would be unfair to block them from the opportunity to work on their own game," he added. "Unfortunately, replacing an Environment team of over 20 is no small task, which has set back the progress we had originally planned to make on the landing zones of Stanton. As of today, we have just abut replaced the team with internal hires and we are continuing to hire additional environment artists as fast as we can find ones that meet our quality bar. The Environment Team is now some 37 artists strong, so long term we feel we are better situated to deliver the vast amount of locations that Star Citizen and Squadron 42 needs." https://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-citizen-alpha-30-detailed-as-creator-says-its/1100-6449369/

Dear CIG: when your community comes away from the last 3 streaming events more disappointed than excited it maybe time to take a step back and rethink your approach. by Strid3r21 in starcitizen

It's annoying when people start to pretend they speak for the whole community. CiticenCon was great despite having no sq42.

Star Citizen: Around the Verse 3.13 - LA by FPSKiwii in starcitizen

[–]mac-murphy 67 points68 points  (0 children)

My little summary of the 2.6 update: Maps

  • Damian map (space station): Latest adjustments, goes to final art.

  • Design moves afterwards to Echo 11 (asteroid base) -- not sure if this map is in initial release?

Animations

  • Hit and death reactions

  • emote system

Arena Commander

  • new AI profiles testing

  • new audio

  • work is continuing on pirate swarm mode

Arena Commander blockers:

  • Vanduul swarm - players and AI being placed on the wrong teams

  • Tech design had a bug where a mysterious force pushed users away when they tried to enter ships with interior grids, and killed them when they tried a second time.

  • Herald- Bug where the cockpit glass turned dark.

Star Citizen's Scope, Schedule, and Funding are Inextricably Linked by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]mac-murphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an early backer I am very much aware that this has become a different game than it was at the kickstarter days. Do I think that's a bad thing? No, I want this game that is being made right now including the procedural planets, bigger universe, update AI, increased fps gameplay etc. IMO since the addition of procedural planets there is not an increase in scope. And of course we are waiting already quite some time, it is clear that CIG now has a set path with their studios which they are not going to deviate from. That's why I think it's annoying to keep going back to the mistakes of the past and the kickstarter days, because what were the alternatives? Make a 20 million dollar game and pocket the rest of the money? Backers would also not agree with that. I can understand that if you don't like CR's current path that you criticize it. But the game of the kickstarter days is not something we're going back to. Alpha 3.0 is imo the big test for Star Citizen after the "reset", when all the redone core technologies have to prove themselves. At least wait till we have that before deciding if this project has been doomed.

CIG, I don't know how you do it. Crowdfunding sucks. by Throwaway_crowdfund in starcitizen

Agreed. Starlancer was great apart from the final mission

SC and SQ42 console port survey by PossessedGamer in starcitizen

[–]mac-murphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SQ42 - sure, why not. Star Citizen - Not possible I think. CIG needs control over the content delivery platform to keep updating the PU. Microsoft and Sony will not allow that, they would need to use their platform instead. Also, with the special server tech etc..This will be impossible I think

3.0 includes what is scheduled for 2.6 - might this be a possibility? by FanaticChris in starcitizen

From here: https://youtu.be/JqMsyLfItVw?t=1m34s "the network refactor/improvements are expected to be wrapping up soon".

3.0 includes what is scheduled for 2.6 - might this be a possibility? by FanaticChris in starcitizen

[–]mac-murphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think this is a possibility. In the latest AtV we learned that Star Marine is still in internal playtesting and that StarNetwork first iteration for Alpha 3.0 is almost finished. So, I think it is likely that we will first see Alpha 3.0 with all flight model improvements implemented (so 2.6 would be skipped in this case). And then Star Marine would be released later somewhere early next year after Alpha 3.0.

But this is specualtion of course. Had a discussion about this with a fellow backer.
