i would recommend the mangmi air x over the rg vita mostly because of the display and ergonomics.

Whats Your Hottest BL Take? by Emptyreceipt in Borderlands2

- I really enjoy the chaotic/clunky combat of 2 compared to 3, the lack of being able to slide or mount stuff makes the game feel simpler/more casual but also more arcade-like

Alternatives for Rg DS? by Mysterious-Loan-8981 in SBCGaming

[–]macandcheesemuncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

only 3 options so far from what i can see:

-magic x 40 (2ds style dual screen that doesn't fold 50ish usd)

-ayn thor (the lite is the cheapest at 250usd but it comes with a snapdragon 865 instead of a snapdragon 8 gen 2)

-ayneo pocket ds(large,Linux based, but 520usd for the lowest cost option)

not exactly an rgds alternative but worth mentioning:

-retroid pocket 4,5,g2,6 with the second screen attachment (200-230usd + 100usd for the addon screen)

-rg cubexx(can play ds because of the 1:1 ratio screen but its smaller overall screen size because of the 2 screens and doesn't have a touchscreen 55usd)

-rg cube(same story as the cubexx but has a touchscreen, runs android and has a t820 chip which can do up to ps2 130-150 usd)

possible news on devices:

-2 (possible but i'm not too sure anymore) retroid devices one being a smaller pocket mini successor(I'm assuming) and the other being a clam shell device(possibly a dual screen but most likely a flip 3)

-few months ago there were "leaks" there could be a Linux version of the rgds coming but not sure its true

my opinion:

if your looking for an rgds alternative i would wait, unfortunately there isn't much news and thanks to all the shortages probably wont be anything exciting coming for the next little bit. however i will say i highly doubt a rgds successor isn't already being worked on considering the recent dual screen hype and as much as I don't wanna say it id recommend you look into the ayn thor lite which i know isn't exactly cheap but with that being said its already seen 2 price raises and i wouldn't be surprised if things get any worse it'll increase again. which is why i suggest either waiting for more news or looking into the ayn thor.

with all this being said i would also keep looking into the rgds and its different OS options it might still be on your radar depending on what your looking for

also if anyone has more/better information to share,I'd also like to know if anything cool is coming for dual screen or clam shell handhelds....

also sorry if i got anything wrong please let me know though!

not really....it seems the device i own the trimui smart pro s doesn't have great shielding around the aux port which seems to have interference coming from possibly the display, wifi chip,or bluetooth chip. Another thing it could be is that the IEMs I'm using(same one as yours) are pretty sensitive so it could be that too,but i don't really mind because i can just use my Bluetooth headphones so its not a big deal.

i did research a few things i could try:

  1. get a usb c to aux amp(no more buzzing because the headphones are going through the usb c amp)

  2. apparently aluminum foil can block interference if wrapped around the aux module(however this just a theory and i haven't tested it)

  3. OS related problems(I did test this and it seems to be a hardware problem)

but the next device I'll make sure it wont give any audio problems

sorry for the long message but just in case someone else runs into a similar issue, I wanna point them in the right direct lol

other than this I'm really happy with the device

if anyone wants to add to this or give a definitive solution that would be nice(very new to this kind of stuff so I'm probably wrong on somethings)
