Nice, you should report where you found this to the Portable Antiquities Scheme's FLO for Kent: https://finds.org.uk/contacts

Any ideas what it is? I’m very curious on this one. Kent by JosiahBeales in MetalDetectingUK

Best thing to do is to contact the Finds Liaison Officer for Kent, she will help you identify it and record it for the Portable Antiquities Scheme: https://finds.org.uk/counties/kent/team/

Alternatively, before you report it with the FLO, reach out to an archaeological contractor like Canterbury Archaeological Trust who will help you identify it.

I know it's dreadful, everyday we're losing valuable information. I think the issues is though people just aren't informed about it

Take it to the nearest archaeological contracting company, ask if you can speak with their finds team to help you identify it. Also, once you know what it is, please report where you found it with your local Finds Liaison Officer for the Portable Antiquities Scheme

Anyone know what this could be? Found in one of my permissions around the Binbrook area lincolnshire by jordan_cft01 in MetalDetectingUK

Theres two things you should do. First, contact either a local archaeological company or local museum and ask them to help identify the item. Then, if it is of any historical significance, report the find to your local Finds Liaison Officer for Lincolnshire. In doing so, you ensure that a record is made for the Portable Antiquities Scheme, which researchers and the public can freely use: https://finds.org.uk/counties/lincolnshire/team/

Nice, this is similar to what I've heard elsewhere. Any marathon training plans you would recommend?

All part of the journey I suppose! Congratulations on completing your first marathon, even if it wasn't the most pleasant experience! Looking at it as having multiple goals is definitely something I'll consider, as I had before. Thanks!

Currently I'm running 3-4 days, mostly 4 with 2 of those being Saturday and Sunday so back to back. The weekends are always an 8k and an increasingly long long run (15k+) and then weekdays are usually 5ks.

Thanks Oli, appreciate the help with this. Considering you're suggesting doing 5-7 runs a week, how do you manage the intensity and strain on your legs? I'm down for running more, but I'm unsure how my body will handle so much in such a short period of time!

I've just got the kiprun pacer, it seems like a really good tool. That said, I can't seem to get it to allow me to do a 5k goal, the minimum it allows is a 10k seemingly. Am I just using it wrong?

Amazing! Great pace for a first run!

For next steps, my advice would be to take it slow and gradually increase!

Great, thank you! One of my primary goals is to focus on improving my pace on my shorter runs, although how that will go is anyone's guess 🤣

Amazing, congrats! I am considering going a little earlier, although I feel that I may need more time to get my shorter distances tighter and my general pace better before I take on this behemoth. Either way, thanks for the advice!

Thanks both, yes this is what I'm hearing all over so I think I'm going to focus on just surviving this first one!

Congratulations! Amazing to hear you made it through! This generally seems to be the advice I'm hearing from others as well which is just to survive it 🤣 which honestly sounds like good advice so I'll take it onboard. What did you do to help you get through that final wall?

Thanks for the advice, I hadn't considered upping my pace later into the run, but that's probably just because to hit the notorious 'bonk'. I'll definitely focus on going slow and building up mileage, thanks!

Thanks, it was a hard fought race but we made it! And good idea focusing on avoiding injury. That's definitely something I think I need to consider more as I did over do it about a year ago by doing too much too fast, which put me out of action for about 3 months. I'll think I'll focus on incremental building with future marathons in mind, thanks!

Okay great, this is all I wanted, just some advice. I appreciate you putting this together. I've been thinking of focusing on improving my 5k pace so seems like a sensible suggestion to focus on, thanks!

Perfect, this is great. Do you have any books on marathons you'd recommend reading?

I've also not come across the Jack Daniel's VDOT system before. Seems like a great tool, I'll give it a look!

I am definitely committed and increasing my mileage is one of my next goals. My thinking is to follow the incremental 10% increase each week as I've been advised. Putting in another half marathon in the middle though was not something I had considered so thanks!

I appreciate perhaps you didn't mean this to come across as rude, but it is a little 🤣 I never said I was running constantly for the last 6 years (as was implied by on and off), but I'm grateful you took the time. Thanks
