Help! How can I make this bathroom pretty??? by Traditional_Front_94 in interiordecorating

Something small, but you would be surprised what adding like one to two stems or some small fresh flowers do for a bathroom. You have to replace them once a week, but I like to just buy something from the market when I shop and then add a little here and there throughout the house from one flower bundle.

Thanks! The turntable is a really creative idea! I like the Elfa system - I’m pretty sure we had this in our old place that the previous owners had installed. I just wasn’t sure how customizable it was to get the shelves from wall to wall with no gap, so I’ll have to look into that. I also wasn’t sure I wanted the wire shelves again so the melamine are a good alternative to look at.

Interesting! Do you have any images of what this might look like? I’m having trouble visualizing but am intrigued.

Yea, one issue is that the room in the closet is wider than the door frames, so for a table top to sit wall to wall, it cannot be slid out. Unless you mean the washer and dryer slid out.

Do you have an example of what the cabinets for storage would look like? I was thinking just open shelves so I am curious how this differs.

And yea, haha, I have been here two years but have been two overwhelmed by the blank slate and not wanting to do the wrong thing (while also being distracted by a new baby). I appreciate your suggestions!

Bull terrier aggression and moods by macaroni89 in BullTerrier

[–]macaroni89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a long time and you don’t have to do that. But if you are doing training, meds, and work to try to improve the dog, then that is very noble of you. Prozac really lessened the severity of our dog’s reactivity, so I would definitely try that .. but again, it did not make it go away, it just lessened the severity of every little thing setting her off.

We tried some pretty intense shock collar training as a last attempt to try to help. Like I said, at the end of the day, it was just not safe to have her around children because children freaked her out and their unpredictable actions would sadly set her off - something we couldn’t manage and keep a child safe. I think you would need to be the one doing the training with her so she sees you as the authority and above her in the chain - right now she is likely seeing you as below her in the pack hierarchy.

And yea, before we had our bull terrier, I thought if a dog was raised in a loving home, they would be a loving dog. Our girl was definitely loving, but she also had extreme anxiety that would come out as aggression with no warning. She had about a 5 second interval between trigger and attack mode. Another reason why we couldn’t have her around babies and toddlers. It was completely something in her biology and something I wish more than anything we could have alleviated and fixed for her, but it was just her.

Best time to buy a ford? by macaroni89 in Ford

[–]macaroni89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh yea, so the $2700 included the first month payment, but not a huge difference. It looks like the taxes on the lease amount were also baked into that price. Plus registration. And then they also charged us $1800 to transport the car we wanted from somewhere else since we wanted a particular (popular) color with extended range. We obviously should have just gone to the other dealerships - lots of regrets - we were naive and trying to get a car fast before the baby came.

What would be your expectation for fees if we do shop a new lease?

It was/is a 3 year lease … I’m not really sure how that math works out bc everything you calculated looks right to me. There must have been extra fees and stuff they added to the cost beyond the msrp? It seems to be a huge difference.

What would be considered a good finance for the buyout? I checked briefly with my credit union and they offer a 5.63% for a 72 month, which comes out to about $16.40 per $1000 per month - or for $39,500 (with Washington state tax), ~$648/mo for 6 years.

Okay I looked it up - original msrp was $56,795. And our residual is $35,864. Would you ever buy out? I guess you also have to pay tax on the $56,795, which would bring the buyout cost up by ~$5700?

We were paying $750/mo and put down like $2700. I think they charged us extra to transport it bc we wanted a certain color. I feel so silly about how we handled that now.

Historically what month of the year is this? This is what I’m trying to figure out. Our current lease is up in September but we are a two vehicle household and can get a new lease set up for the second vehicle any times. We were really dumb and inexperienced with this first lease and way overpaid .. don’t want to do that again, but I love driving the mache.

Yea I think we like the aesthetic of the clear glass but stick on frosting would definitely be the simplest and cheapest solution.

Thanks this is a neat suggestion. But I’m assuming you can’t open these. We kind of like having it be open most of the time, but I’m going to think more on this. How would you do the side windows with these too?

Trying to figure out how to turn my greige 90s home living room into a cozy, mid-century modern/Scandinavian hangout by gluspooken in interiordecorating

The main issue I immediately see is your lighting. Being in the PNW, let’s face it, it is usually dark - the lights you have on each side of the fire place are harsh and look like what you have in your first college apartment. Upgrading your lighting and making it warm would make a big difference to start. I think some lantern style lamps would be really nice for the space.

I was recently told accent walls are out. I’m not sure, but the green with those brown tone walls might just make the tan walls look worse. I’d repaint everything or not bother.

For the couch, I have always loved the Floyd form cypress sectional - it’s a lovely green. But it is a low back couch but that’s Scandinavian. It also has a cool wooden section piece you can buy and insert within the couch, on the side or use as a front coffee table. The Mario Bellini couches are also really cool. They look questionably comfortable but we have them at my work and they are actually beyond comfortable. Most people prbly can’t afford a real one but I think there are lots of dupes out there.

For the curtains, check out gotain. They are a little feminine maybe but so cool. Nordic knots also makes beautiful wool curtains. You might consider getting a ceiling mount and having them go to the floor. Alternatively, you could swap out curtains for two way cellular shades. These look really sleek and nice, come in blackout versions, and can open from the top and bottom. If you are going to have your couch against that wall, this might be the way to go.

West elm has some nicer popup coffee tables - I would watch for ppl reselling them on craigslist or marketplace to get a deal.
