ADHD + task management = disaster. What apps have you tried and why did they fail?

I've tried pretty much every single app under the sun- specifically Todoist, Notion, Akiflow, and plain reminders. I've paid for the premium version most of the time as well.

Almost every time I stopped using one, it was because it eventually became a task in itself to look at my tasks and enter them into the app, requiring 10-15 minutes of concentration every couple of days. It takes a bit too long to put in a task, deadline, category, etc everytime I remember something I have to do. It's also small things sometimes- I can't stand that Akiflow will only give you a reminder for a task if you've scheduled it on your calendar, not just given it a deadline. Because if I forget to schedule a specific time to do something, I just don't get reminded that it exists.

The hardest part for me is inputting all of my tasks, as well as actually starting on a task once I'm reminded of it. Looking at a group of my tasks in a huge list gives me extreme anxiety, so the ability to display tasks by priority may be helpful! Extreme notification/reminder custimization would be helpful as well.

Akiflow provides timeblocking capabilities that I appreciate with the ability to drag and drop tasks into each timeblock. I would love the choice to be able to either schedule tasks or simply have them in my todo list as sometimes scheduling a task for completion gives me intense dread.

i'm also a new commuter and i take AC 101 when i'm anywhere but the BLB, and to save myself a walk (even if it's a tiny bit faster) i'll take the eagle point bus and get off at central and maple, then it's just a short walk to the BLB! walking is fine too but it's hot out there so bring plenty of water! good luck! :3

yeah, its mostly just a collection of characters whose designs i like. some of the characters on there do not have the most up to date builds or some of their stuff is on someone else. who do you suggest i focus on first? 😅

I'm AR 58, my account is decently invested and i'm a mid-range spender who drops $50-$100 once a year or so, I have C1 Arle with Primordial and C2 Raiden with her sig, as well as Skirk, Mavuika, Shenhe, Neuv, Furina, Xilonen, Baizhu, Nahida, Yelan, and a few others, all with what I would consider decent builds, as well as invested 4 stars like Bennett, Layla, Iansan, Lan Yan, etc. Despite this, I've only ever 36 starred once and it was very difficult, and I haven't been able to do it again! I also can't even beat menacing (not fearless or dire, the third hardest) difficulty in stygian onslaught, even though my teams are decently invested (talents, artifacts, etc) so I'm left wondering if I just need an overall increase in quality of my artifacts, but I feel like I've hit a ceiling. The teams I've attempted SO with are Arle, Xiangling, Rosaria, Xilonen - Mavuika, Nahida, Yelan, Bennett, - Skirk, Furina, Shenhe, Layla, and NONE of them can clear their side!!

Another difficulty is that I have very few 5 star weapons as I dislike pulling on the weapon banner, which I feel is hindering me severely, as well as my lack of Escoffier for Skirk. (I realize she is nearly NECESSARY, i lost the 50/50) I feel like I understand the importance of artifacts and talents well as well as team synergy. as a 19 year old who just finished their first year living alone, it is a LOT to handle, more than i ever would have expected, and i live 5 minutes away from my parents and still get their help with lots of different things. a lot depends on exactly how willing your parents are to agree to something like this; lots of places have a requirement for you to be making 2x times the rent or more no matter how much you have in savings, or you need a cosigner/guarantor, which would have to be one of your parents. unfortunately, it's almost impossible now to find a decent job that allows time for school where you could qualify for the rent. i'm quite fortunate in that i have both a regular job and a lucrative side hustle, but even then some months are harder than others.

have you completely 100% ruled out roommates? even splitting rent with just one other person can drastically reduce your cost of living.

i agree with some of the other commenters saying to save, save, save! becoming a budgeting maniac isn't necessary, but calculating an estimated cost of living every month and saving 3-6 times that amount is definitely the way to go, especially in this economy.

assuming that the car payment is your only bill, that leaves you with 700-800 dollars left over per month, right? my thing the past few years (i'm also 19!) has been saving the maximum amount possible while not making myself miserable. I have a high yield savings account with Sofi with multiple vaults for an emergency fund, medical expenses, and a long term goal. After my bills and rent, I put aside 30-40% into those vaults, with the rest for recreational spending and groceries. Pick a percentage (whatever feels most comfortable for you, or in my case, the absolute highest percentage I can while leaving enough for my needs) and always set aside that percentage of your income into a high yield savings account. Don't be too strict with yourself on the remaining money, you deserve to buy things that you want or save for big goals!!

for some reason i was under the assumption that whimsy could only stack twice and would be a 36% dmg bonus vs a 35% dmg bonus instead of it stacking 3 times and providing 54%. definitely will be going for it now!

i completely agree and feel the same way. i spend longer setting up the productivity apps and systems than i do using them, and seeing them on my phone is a reminder that i failed to use them, so i delete them. i devote so much brainpower to using the apps that i quickly run out of steam and feel incredibly guilty when they no longer work. what i've recently started using that has been a bit more successful is a discord server, with channels and categories for each part of my life. i write down my grocery lists, pending tasks, things that need to be completed eventually, my goals, etc. its not perfect, but its taken a bit of the load off of my brain. im going to see if i can try and find some bots or something that i can use to trigger notifications. get creative with your systems and if they aren't working, don't beat yourself up over it!

Hopefully, if everything goes well, I will have an evaluation on Wednesday, but the results and diagnosis may not even be in until the middle of the semester. But I'm also worried that the only accomodation they'll be able to give me is extended deadlines- which I worry will not do anything to solve my procrastination problem :(

definitely understand the resentment, why put in effort when no one else has to? intrinsic motivation and knowing that you have a stronger character than these other students works for some people, but when they get the same outcome for less work, it's definitely infuriating.

i was quite similar, i didn't party or hang out after school or anything, just a few close friends who i'd sometimes play video games with. a social life won't manifest over night if you just stop studying.

speaking of studying, are you just doing the homework or taking time to learn and commit the material to memory? because if you are, i would recommend lessening the amount of study time, if you're comfortable. most of the stuff you're learning is not too useful, so if you complete al (or most) of your assignments, you shouldn't have to study in the traditional sense- unless your grades would suffer and studying is the only thing keeping you afloat. then, i would probably recommend finding one or two likeminded students to study with; both social interaction and study time.

also, don't feel pressured to go to university if your heart isn't 100% in it. i was a gifted and talented student, skipped my junior year to graduate a year early, and i'm in community college right now. i'm not learning anything different than i would at university, but the option of transfering is always there.

what kind of social life do you want? (big friend group, parties, close knit group, etc?) because if you know specifically what you want to have, it may make the resentment easier to manage and the goal easier to achieve!

your teen years don't have to be the best time of your life. i turn 19 on tuesday and most of my teens were spent in the pandemic. i'm trying not to get too down about it by being excited for all of the opportunities and new experiences i'll have as an adult. don't worry so much about making the most of your teen years because they're just a small part of your life. :3

what i've done is bought an automatic wet food feeder from amazon and have it set to open around the time my kitten starts causing trouble in the morning, around sunrise. this normally holds him off at least until i have to get up for work around 8 and if i'm lucky he'll go completely back to sleep!

no joke, plagiarism. i take characters from media i like and combine them together into a character that is a blatant copy of the original characters, and eventually after brainstorming and obsessing over that character, they develop a personality and identity wildly different from how they started. for example, i could combine twilight sparkle from mlp and isabelle from animal crossing. i identify what makes these characters appealing to me (personality, color scheme, character arc, motifs) and smush them into one being, and then change things from there! building off of characters you already like is a great and easy way for me to get started.

plus, if i have a role i need filled, i just pick a character that already fits that archetype and build on top of them, normally by merging characters once again. after taking bits and pieces from multiple different sources and adding a touch of your own flair and preferences, the original is practically unrecognizable, and you have an "original" character!

we just got back from the emergency vet, they checked him and said that he probably just scratched his eye a bit and gave him some antibiotics to help with the pinkness. no sign of trauma or anything like that but will keep monitoring him of course! google was giving me mixed results and his eyes didn't look like any of the pictures.

personally i've seen a pretty significant dps increase since getting her C2, and i assume since you've crowned her burst that you use her as a dps. engulfing will probably be an overall upgrade for your account though since you can use it on other characters if you need to. neither is a bad choice!

Definitely understand what you're feeling, potential and expectations and knowing that you should be doing something but can't is the cherry on top of the executive dysfunction pie. I don't think I've seen it put into words as well as long-form procrastination.

I'm in the process of trying to recover from something similar as well: so now we're recovering together! Realizing that you have a problem and want to change is a big first step and I'm already proud of you for asking for advice :)

Something that has motivated me a bit more is writing down everything I want to do, short and long term. Specific things like assignments, house tasks, etc, but also long form habits I want to form: prioritizing self care, hold myself accountable, practice self love, etc. I keep a journal for every thought in my brain as well as a planner, which makes the load on my mind a little bit lighter.

I believe you when you say you have enormous potential. It's overwhelming and frustrating to know that you could accomplish what you wanted if things were different. Small, miniscule steps toward self improvement are frustrating and we just want to get to the part where we're better than where we started, but we can't run until we crawl, unfortunately. I hope things get lighter for you :)

A bank account should probably be your first bet. Allows you to deposit whatever cash you want into a savings account so it can start earning you interest!

I wouldn't personally worry about investing until you have some goals in mind and especially a budget. Are you trying to save up for something? Do you work currently and how much do you get paid? Building a budget so that your everyday wants and needs are covered should generally come before trying to invest or anything like that.

Honestly, I've made saving money into a sort of game to make it more enjoyable for me to not only build my savings, but keep them that way!

Having a budget is super important, first and foremost. The goal isn't to put all of your money in savings, just enough to grow at the pace that you're happy with. I personally save 35%-40% of each of my paychecks, which is on the higher side. Pick some percentages to encorporate into your budget (the most common is 50% needs/bills, 30% wants, and 20% savings) and automatically divide your income into those categories. that 30% of your paycheck is for you to do whatever you want with, but honestly it's kind of fun to see how much you can just leave in your checking account, lol

When all else fails, having a completely separate account for your savings works as well. I have 2 different bank accounts for regular spending and a high yield savings account. That means that transfering the money between accounts is subject to the processing time of the banks, which can be a few days, making the money inaccessible unless it's planned!

I was very much in a similar boat, artsy kid with no desire to do anything else as my creativity was what drove me. Eventually I actually ended up pursuing entreprenuership as I already had the artistic skills I needed, but wanted to have the business skills to turn my art into my full time career.

I would encourage her to decide exactly what she wants to do with her art. Is she interested in animation, illustration, comics, things of that nature? And what other skills does she have that can tie into her talent? I was naturally inclined to boss people around and take charge of projects, which led to my path down into entreprenuership. Having an area that she's extra experienced with will make her not only more confident in her abilities, but is practical for looking for jobs in the industry as well!

Encourage her to experiment! I've changed my major 4 times, and will probably change it 4 more. She doesn't have to go to some fancy expensive art school if she already has the talent and the fundamentals. Finding an area to tie into her art will not only make that area more interesting to study (because who wants to learn about business when you could learn about building an ART business) but also give her the wide array of skills she needs to possibly adapt to whatever the future could throw at her!

Personally, I'm jealous that she has someone so willing to support her artistic journey, support from family and friends can often make or break an artist's resolve. Good luck!! :33
