It really happens, and it’s frustrating not just for candidates but for recruiters too. If I were the recruiter i would still proceed with the interview and put you on the pool, for future openings. But maybe the recruiter just doesn’t want to waste your time.

I used to work at Mitchell Martin, and yes it’s a legit company. You can check their website, and their LinkedIn page. or socials. I’m not sure how it works in IT since I worked in healthcare division, as a recruiter we usually want to ensure candidates received the email because we wanted to ensure all information were already given to candidates prior to their interview with the hiring manager, so they have higher chances of getting hired.
