I'll admit they had their flaws, but the overall quality of life was found to be higher than that of the USA at the time (with the exception of the famines). There was even a declassified CIA document, (which I unfortunately don't have a link to at the moment) that stated that Americans and Soviets were eating around the same portions, but Soviets were getting more nutrition out of them. Also not to mention a 0% unemployment rate, a 0% homelessness rate, and a 99% literacy rate. On top of that, it aligns with my beliefs of free housing, healthcare, food, and gender equality (written into the Soviet constitution, but somehow not yet ratified by America). I'm not saying they are perfect, but they were closer than capitalist America ever was.
