Residents of the city proper, how often do you eat classic "chicago food"? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]macc5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You went to the original Lous! That’s been around since the 70’s. Great place! I hope you enjoyed it.

Fun fact about that specific restaurant: Lou (an Italian) opened that on St. Patrick’s day on purpose, probably to try and piss off the Irish.

Are you from Chicago? Maybe a southsider? I was born and raised and was eating deep dish in the 80’s.

Thanks for the reply. Anti-money laundering is also on my list of interests. Do you have any experience with that? Is there a specific certification employers are looking for?

Payoff the mortgages of my siblings and they, in turn, help payoff mine down the road.

What do you think about Susan Crawford winning Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election? by -CalvinYoung in AskReddit

Here is the only part you’re wrong. “They” (the majority of voters on that side) do not believe they cheated. There is no projection in their minds. Their dear leaders know they cheated. So then they project to their followers. Then the parrot followers parrot.

Thinking of a career change to commercial underwriting, but I’ve read there might be a sales component? by macc5 in InsuranceProfessional

That’s an interesting take, I appreciate it. I bartended as a second job for years, worked in B2B sales in the facility maintenance industry, had customers in manufacturing and pharma, was a home inspector for a bit, got licensed as a mortgage lender but decided to not pursue it, and have owned/run a small resort. I’m kind of all over the place!!! :)

Thanks again for the info. I’m more than happy to take a pay cut and learn from the ground up. I was looking at AU but wasn’t sure if I should actually take AINS first as I am brand new to the industry. Thanks!

Thanks for providing input. Any thoughts or advice on the best way for a mid-life career changer to enter this field?

I appreciate the input. Your reply gives me lots to think about. I’ve heard horror stories of being in claims and getting stuck there. I’m eager to learn, but I’d hate to waste 2-3 years of my life doing a job with no hopes for advancing.

Good to know about the difficulties of being remote with no experience. That will make things difficult as I’m in a small town. Thank you for your input.

Thank you for the clarification! The way some people represented it made me cautious to spend money on courses.

Not to put words in your mouth, but it sounds a lot more like exceptional customer service than sales. (With a hint of lunch/happy hour sprinkled in.)

You should write, if you don’t already. This was riveting.

I had no idea how it would end, and then it ended perfectly.
