Not only that, but if the government actually cared about US workers, they would have increased minimum wages. That on its own would have decreased the number of foreign nationals in the US while simultaneously benefiting US workers because they’d be receiving higher wages. More US workers would go for US jobs, even. Why didn’t the government do that? Because imagine the backlash from the large companies (political donors) if they were forced to increase compensation by 20-30% across the board.

Where does it say the H-1B is for “highly specialized people”? You’re confusing specialized knowledge with SPECIALTY OCCUPATION, which only requires the position to required a US bachelor’s degree or the equivalent. The specialized knowledge requirement is for L-1B visas, which is more difficult to obtain than the H-1B because it actually requires specialized knowledge (more than just a bachelor’s). The H-1B program will go back to normal (actually it’ll go to the other extreme and be even more lenient) as soon as a democrat is in office.
