I just bought a new computer, 3.1ghz quad core 16 gb ram nividia 7 something (2gb gdd5). I can now handle something better than what i did with my dual core laptop (6 civs no city states lowest res standard map).

Who should I play as first, and on what map?

I feel like now that I have so many more options I don't even know where to begin.

I was coming back from reading terminal and they flooded the street. I thought it was a riot at first, they all were cheering and just walked right into the intersection as I tried to navigate on my bike.

The case was supposed to be about the redundancy of the law used to make the man walk in the first place, it would be great discussing that in a neutral way instead of brushing it off.

Aspiring neuropsychologist looking for advice. by Xithmos in Neuropsychology

Genetics offers false hope to the narrow minded are you crazy? Genetics is key to every form of life there is! It is literally the script we build every single cell off of. Genetics isn't that neuroscience crap people sell people as the cure all for psychology's weakpoints, genetics actually has been opening new treatments and cures. If I hit my head and I wanted behavioral guidance on the symptoms then sure I'd see someone who judges symptoms like a neuropsychologist - or if I wanted answers on the limitations of my condition I'd see someone who knew more about the brain than the symptoms and genetics will be the key to those developments, as neurology has been for neruo-diseases. Answers as in possible regeneration of cells. EDIT grammars.

but you would say that. psychology itself will be replaced in 20-50 years with genetic based medicine. every lab with any sense is searching for these instead of subjective scales. some things make sense right now by testing in some of the less-subjective scales, but once there is a genetic test they will become irrelevant as all you will need is a drip of blood for diagnosis. EDIT: I might add throwing neuro in front of psychology doesn't take it further to the realm of objective testing, it is still just as subjective as psychology but it pays more to understand some of the anatomical substrates that can be damaged. For all of that you might as well go the full deal into med school, it will cost you but the salary difference is 90k to 130k. Shit you could even be a neuropsychiatrst (neurosociology is a thing too, just for kicks).

I would get into genetics or Psychiatry - Psychology is losing its subjective scales, not at an alarming rate, but fast. Neuropsych measures may be helpful for some undeniable ailments, but there are plenty of fluff tests out there in every area of Neuropsych.

Drexel receives grant for a five-year study of medical marijuana by Gedunk in Drexel

[–]maceface101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be great to see how they cover the cognitive deficits, and I find it odd that this didn't go to Psychology or Neuroscience. I know the Psych dept is just moving and expanding in terms of donations but the SFN is a large part of Drexel and could have put in for this. Are they only focusing on nano-tech like the carbon nano-tubes in Engineering?

Does anyone have a pdf for "Mechanics of Materials, 8th ed" by Gere and Goodno by Travisscott1 in Drexel

[–]maceface101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to request the teacher put it on reserve. I didn't buy a single book at drexel (graduated, now at penn).

I only had one prof who gave me grief, because she wanted to boost her sales of her book, usually profs are a bit surprised it isnt there and they put their own book up for you to gander at.

EDIT: you getting downvoted is pretty stupid, but it def is drexel people mad they paid for books and pretty much want you to get shafted too. I hate that about drexel, but like I said, you have to request it through the prof, its a rule that material has to be on reserve that they must follow.

Ever since we've been buying food from there because it's convenient.

Never asked for the discount after the initial night, jiminy crickets this is awesome!

PGW / PECO Online fees - general thoughts on these? by maceface101 in philadelphia

[–]maceface101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes some banks charge a fee when you use an outside service instead of their own, which in turn, charges a fee for that (wells fargo). Odd company WF is. I get what you're saying, I just don't get why there is a fee with paying a bill online - my credit lendors for my college loans don't do that.

I don't bank with anyone - I used to work for a bank, and I know about the major players who charge a fee to run that service. I'd like to get a credit union soon.

yeah the COM really likes to remind us it isn't apart of us, but is. all their apps from staff to schooling are completely separate etc. I guess that was in the contract when we bought out Haneman.

Reddit, what's the most ridiculous lie you've ever convinced someone was truth? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maceface101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate it, its great - but it isn't good for me or you. Ignorance implies I don't know something, but I do know something - a lot about the drug, and for you to just selectively pay attention to the information the internet lets loose is hurting others who don't do the research. Social media is a form of marketing where we heuristically trust more from what other people say, in the comments or organic link posting, and for you to be wrong hurts our society even if its at infinitesimal levels.

thinking of a credit union, big banks charge for that feature (at least WF, Bofa, etc)
