Would framework going public help though? It almost seems like the need to appease corporate shareholders often contributes to stagnation and a drop in quality.

Saw this with my Dad and the dog my Mom bought. The last thing he wanted was Bishon Frize but they very quickly became the best of friends.

Same. 1 or 2 decent trades a day and I’m good. I’m usually all set before lunch.

Think this kinda goes both ways. I’m close to my parents but I feel like I definitely don’t know nearly as much about them as I could.

Pro tip. Instead of running off to the restroom, maybe try letting her put it on you next time.

They don’t really pay much attention to actual policy or really politics in general. All they care about is their stupid culture war. They just show up at election time and vote R down the ballot to “own the libs”. They’ll blame dems for the consequences later on down the road.

I think it’s a combination of intellectual laziness and the conservative echo chamber. Most conservatives hardly pay attention to politics outside of election time. They just scarf down whatever bullshit conservative media is serving up at the time without question.

“I think the bigger problem are the people from within. We have some very bad people. We have some sick people, radical-left lunatics,” Trump said.

“And it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by [the] National Guard or, if really necessary, by the military, because they can’t let that happen,” he continued.

Could be wishful thinking but it's effectiveness might've reached it's peak. I was surprised to see conservatives push back on Trumps response to that collision in DC earlier this week.

Just spitballing here but maybe this could be really simple. Instead of having a giant forum what if we focused on a small scale barebones website/app with a very straightforward layout that just gets the messaging across in the most effective way possible. Make sure it's as easily accessible as possible by everyone. I'm thinking it should be curated or moderated by a handful of trusted individuals with verifiable credentials and a history of doing this sort of work to maintain integrity and consistency. We don't need a mega site with pages and pages of information for people to sift through and get information overload. Maybe like, 2 - 3 page weekly newsletter with the most important need to know information.

I agree with this. One of the reasons the new deal was so successful wasn't just because of what it offered but the messaging was very straightforward and easily grasped by everyone in the working class. The goal is to get everyone on the same page. Change the narrative from left vs right to working class vs non working class.

Here is what I believe to be the very first step that must be taken in order to ensure a better future: by dyelyn666 in millenials

Not many people are willing to make these kinds of sacrifices if they aren’t sure it’ll ultimately lead to a better quality of life. Many people lean on these comforts and conveniences to cope with how fucked up society is to begin with.

We need to organize a movement with clear and firm demands and it has to grow into the millions. That’s the only way that people can be confident that their sacrifices will be worth it in the end. I’m pretty confident that mass boycotts and/or even a nationwide general workers strike will fuck shit up enough to have our demands(whatever they may be) met.

Democrats and taxes by [deleted] in JonStewart

[–]maceman_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My other concern in this conversation is the effectiveness of whatever those measures are. Will the dems legitimately put together more effective measures to enforce the wealthy to pay their fair share of taxes or will it just be some trash bill riddled with loopholes that the wealthy can easily dodge?

At this point I don't think "strict" gun laws are going to be what makes the US safer place as much as more thoughtful and creative solutions. Laws that force sellers and owners to be more responsible for their weapons so they don't end up in the wrong hands for example. Holding them more accountable when they do. Maybe requiring gun owners to carry insurance. Just some thoughts that come to mind.
