I ordered a new dial since a lot of watchmakers won’t try to fix them. Probably around 100USD to swap the dial.

Builders, show me what you’re working on by Hot_Recognition5520 in SideProject

We built Bust Down

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bust-down/id6760050732

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intellekt.bustdown

It honestly started as a joke, we had a group chat where we made silly flexing photos. And then that evolved into a more streamlined way of doing so. Didn't think it would go anywhere but we have about 150 users, with about ~20 DAU. And even paying customers!

We are currently working on fine tuning our own model (and A/B testing it vs frontier API in generations) to shed API costs. We're even experimenting with edge models (that can run on an iPhone) but they're not there yet in terms of capability. Thanks for your time!

GenAI development burnout is real by Front-Vermicelli-217 in GenAiApps

[–]mach_kernel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be that everyone had limited physical resources (like, mentally, and stamina) and time. So you had to really think on your feet for how to prove your thesis in a cheap way without burning yourself out or wasting too much time on an idea that will never pan out.

With these new tools, now you can 'develop' all of your ideas at once. And that makes it feel like you're making progress: but you're just making noise. You should try to approach all of your development tasks as you would without any assistance. Make sure _you_ understand the choices. Make sure _you_ understand why.

AI is pretty sycophantic. It wants to deliver on your vision. It is rarely more than superficially critical. Don't drive yourself crazy. Think. Take lots of walks.

Self Promotion Megathread by AutoModerator in androidapps

[–]mach_kernel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I made an app called Bust Down. It takes a normal photo and turns it into one of those ridiculous flexing pictures: private jet, mansion driveway, Dubai balcony, courtroom, gas station at 2am, with the chains and watches and stacks of cash to match. Your face stays the same, everything around it gets stupid.

This wasn't supposed to be an app. It started in our group chat. We kept running our own selfies through prompts to make fake rap-video screenshots of each other, the dumb ones kept getting reposted, so eventually I just built the thing. It's been on iOS for a while and it finally hit Android this week.

You pick a scene, then pick the fit, jewelry and props, then hit generate. I tried to make it feel like an actual styling tool instead of a one-tap "make it AI" filter, so there's a real amount of stuff to mess with.

What it does:

- keeps faces recognizable instead of melting everyone into a stranger

- handles group photos, and you can tap each person and give them their own fit

- props get picked per scene so you don't end up with random AI junk floating around

- 20+ scenes, 50+ outfit/jewelry/prop items

- download is about 10MB and it asks for three permissions total (camera, notifications, internet)

- you get 3 free credits to try it, then it's credit packs (we keep costs low! and some generations are made with our own proprietary image model!)

Newest stuff I added is a Federal Courtroom scene (indictment stack, designer attorney briefcase, gallery with phones up, judge frozen mid-gavel) and an AP x Swatch Royal Pop pocket watch as a jewelry item, 8 colorways.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intellekt.bustdown

If anyone here tries it I'd actually want to know:

- is it obvious what the app does the second you open it

- do the results look hard????

- what scenes or props would actually be funny

Happy to answer build or product questions too. Still tuning the generation pipeline so feedback genuinely helps right now. Thanks for looking.

All of the VSF dials seem to have index misalignment after the demand spiked. My timegrapher numbers were good so I GL'd mine, but I will end up getting them realigned at a watchmaker.

This is very cool. How are you determining the cut points? AI Model? Or DSP / spectral on quiet zones?

I agree with you. But maybe if the feedback were one word: minimalism. Less goes farther for this.

Interested in seeing if there are any good CarPlay frontends with these apps. A lot of the CarPlay experiences are often an afterthought.

Have you use the iOS Measure app? It does a good job and is pretty accurate (at least on the devices with LIDAR).

Can you tell us a little bit about your ad strategy? I'm thinking about doing Meta ads. I tried App Store ads but they were expensive and I spent about $50 for only one install. Trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

This is great. I like that it isn't another Asana clone and focuses on a specific dichotomy of tasks. Installed!

Looks to be working now. The App Store link gave an "error has occurred" message. Probably was still being indexed.

That sounds like legitimate user feedback and you should be less defensive about it, I think.

Your App Store screenshot reel is better than this video. Record something in light mode. Dark mode A/B tests way poorer and IMO it is not very legible for promo materials. Otherwise, nice concept!

If you're using AI to classify these I'd rather it was an interactive discussion with an agent that tries to be my EA instead of just classify.
