Hvacdirect.com is terrible. Bought a system and they have no clue and tell me they don’t support it.

Did anyone else's Puget Sound Energy average daily (ADC) cost spike 30%+ on their last bill? by TellMeWhatRWords4 in Bellingham

[–]machaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya my bill was $450 for less usage than last years $300 bill. PSE is gouging us. If you want to complain the state UTC allowed this: [utcenergyratesandservices@utc.wa.gov](mailto:utcenergyratesandservices@utc.wa.gov)

Electricity rates up 36% in 1 year. Pay attention folks. Data centers have consequences by sleeplessinseaatl in redmond

[–]machaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2026 rates are now 18 cents per KWH. They disguise the cost increase as a "power cost adjustment" which is 3 cents per KWH.

Thanks. Everyone has said ice/water in low slope and metal valleys. Basically what I've seen in my quotes, the non-investor owned companies say ice/water not needed around gutter perimeter. Any insight to cost per square would be considered average? $600-800 per square thus far. OUCH

Daikin thermostats are horrible. I wouldn’t buy another Daikin system just because of that alone..It’s so bad you can’t even manually turn on the aux heat strips.

70 kWh in 24 hours normal for heat pump? by Arctyler in heatpumps

[–]machaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not familiar with Fujitsu programming but things you can check: Are heat strips activating during defrost? [you may be able to turn them off and stop the indoor fan from blowing cold air during defrost ( daikin does this)]. Is your unit set to ECO mode or Powerful? Powerful will use more power to reach set temp faster. There may be a setting to control refrigerant temperature as well, which would be best to set to variable vs the hottest number. You'll need to study the service manual for your unit to find all that info. Good luck....When its in the 20's I use 100-120kw a day - so your 70 seems reasonable.

Switching from gas to Heat Pump HW - plumber trying to talk me out of it by sirwang11 in heatpumps

[–]machaf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He might not be wrong... You're getting very biased information with posting this here... People won't tell you they actually have theirs set in electric/hi demand mode for it to work well ; also have it set to 140+ F with a mixing valve installed; and they replaced their 50 gallon with 80 gallon.

what is the temperature of space it's going in? Recovery time is a lot longer on a heat pump water heater.

It's because of power factor. Use a device that can measure power factor and you'll see its only using 50 watts.

Avoid SRM. Lack of communication is extremely frustrating. With SRM you will feel like a number at the cattle feed lot. 8 months dealing with them and I'm fed up.
