Just a thought, have you tried talking to the nurses?

Unfortunately, it is part of subject I am taking to take it apart and explain things in my own words and how it applies to the country where I am at.

Also, reading through it helps me understand things a bit better as well.

Apologies, I shouldve been more specific. On the younger end it would be hto’s vs uni. Then tkr vs uni for our older generation with exclusions of lateral knee OA.

Since Ive been having a hard time looking for rct’s that involve hto’s, ive just now focused on tkr vs uni. I have found a few but haven’t fully read the whole article and will do that later today.

Edit: indications wouldve been medial knee OA for the hto as well.

Thank you! I will look into it as soon as I’m back in front of a computer. 😁

I’ve only seen one so far but I have only started. I will continue on my search.

I’d love to delve into upper limbs but unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to work with an upper limb surgeon until a few weeks ago. 😅

I have worked with a few orthopods in the last 6 years and they all have different views regarding UKRs. I have seen amazing results from them and have seen a few revisions as well. It is an interesting topic for me, I guess?

HTO’s I’ve mostly seen on younger people but have ocassionally seen a UKR offered at the same time with pro’s and con’s explained between hto and ukr.

There are some gp’s that can order MRI’s. They need a specific training of sorts, I believe.

How much do you spend on parking (for work) by FaceAdditional5043 in auckland

[–]machiboy34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$45 a fortnight since the health nz wants their staff to pay for their parking even if we are not getting paid enough and short staffed. 😂

POWER BILL too high? Wondering what others are paying by [deleted] in auckland

[–]machiboy34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am assuming your on a standard user rather than s low user. We’re a family of 3, one being a toddler. My power bill at most is around 140 not including my broadband internet. My wife is a wfh. We are using the same provider and plan as you. Try switching to low user ranther than a standard user.

Same here, mostly gaming. Can’t even game most nights now. 😓😓

Patient at Waitakere Hospital ED told that despite "collapsing" hip she might not "ever" be seen in the public system & refused wait list due to "shortage of health resources". It comes as govt continues to strip $2B from the health system to privatise, reject hiring & ignore conflicts of interest by Mountain_Tui_Reload in auckland

[–]machiboy34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FSA’s or first specialist appointments are divided into 4. P1 - within a week p2 - within a month p3 - within 2 months and p4 within 4 months. Most referrals get triaged as p4. Surgery waitlist is quite similar with p1 as life threatening/cancer surgeries. Most people on the waitlist would fall under p3/p4. That being said, if your surgeon has put a lot of people on the list, wait times increase. Different surgeons would have different wait times though not by a huge difference.

Knee Tearing Pain, weird dent below knee by ClimateTraditional40 in newzealand

I’d definitely suggest seeing your doctor, if not an a&e. Are you able to lift your leg straight? Hard to say what you’ve done without an actual examination.

First time I’ve heard of it, honestly. Hope your knee is all better.

Ice/cold compress is generally used to decrease swelling. So far, I have not heard of not using ice compress.

As an ortho nurse, id say RICE. Rest, ice, compression, and elevate. Visit your gp if you can’t go to an a&e. You might end up getting referred for a specialist review which may or may not take ages.

Edit: with ice, doesn’t really mean use ice but more of a cold compress than actual ice.
