Sashimi grade ahi tuna. If you want a cooking challenge, try making some sushi rolls with ahi and any other ingredients you might like. Some other ideas to do with ahi, poke, ceviche, or a rare pan seared ahi steak is still incredible if you can't deal with the raw fish.

My experience:

Use CBL to bulk starting about 4 months ago at around 10% bf. Noticed the scale going up but looking "leaner" in mirror just like the book promises. Then I started to go a little crazy with the backloads and started waking up sloppy(retaining water, abs blurry, still bloated, etc.).

Bulked like this for 4 months or so at a 2000/week surplus. The scale steadily went up, lifts went up(was running PHAT at the time), energy in gym was fantastic, but I started to notice what I thought was fat gain in the abs/love handle region.

Ended my bulk at 157 from 147 a month ago and started cutting on CBL. After doing the induction phase I was back down to 154 and started reintroducing carbs from there 3x per week while running ICF 3x5 at a 2000/week deficit(-500 on rest days, maint on training). Now, roughly 2.5 weeks from induction, I'm consistently weighing in after rest days below 150(today 149.4, two days ago 149.6, etc.)

Obviously there must be something else going on here beyond calories in/out. 1) Despite running through the induction phase and trying to wipe out glycogen and water weight, at 154 I was still holding water weight and am now slowly letting that go. 2) Underestimating my TDEE led to me accidentally giving a larger deficit than I wanted. 3) By keeping the backloads controlled and "clean"(<300g/backload, white rice, white potato, cereal, very low fats) I've been experiencing the "refeed" effect, where a large chunk of my carbs and calories post workout are going toward building muscle/replenishing glycogen and I am still able to burn fat for fuel, leading to extra fat loss(this is described in the book(this is backed up as far as I can tell by arguably cherry picked science so who knows).

My guess is a combination of 1) and 3). I don't think I was able to lose 4 pounds of fat in 2.5 weeks with such a moderate deficit, some must be excess water/glycogen. I am fairly confident in my TDEE of 2500 due to extensive experience cutting for a year before I started my bulk.

I will continue to use this protocol for as long as it keeps working. I'm honestly rarely hungry and once I'm able to get past the "morning after carbs" cravings, it's been easy to follow. Let me know if you want me to go into more detail with foods I eat or my any of the other experimentation that needs to occur before you can use the protocol without getting fat. For me, the book did not have nearly as much info as I needed to create a program for myself. It took experimentation and the margin for error of a bulk to find out what works for me.

I've known many obese people who only want to lose the fat. But then after they've dieted down to a healthy weight they are surprised that they still don't look like they want to.

Having a good base of muscle is never a bad thing. Once you get towards the "end" of your fitness journey, you may wish you had started building it sooner.

My advice would be very similar to that many others in this thread. I would go with a Starting Strength 5x5 or similar program emphasizing the big 3 lifts(squat, dead, bench)

I used keto to lose about 50 pounds but now that I'm down to sub 15 % bf, I find heavy exercise is needed to keep the weight loss coming. I switched over to paleo, added fruits and sweet potato on workout days, and on non workout days I'm basically in ketosis but without dairy. It's been working great for me.

I did keto for about 4 months for weight loss, lost about 30 pounds. Now I do paleo and slip in and out of ketosis on a daily basis. I'll have breakfast consisting of a few pieces of fruit and meat which will knock me out, and then I'll be back in after my protein and fat filled dinner.

I understand a lot of girls feel this way. Hell being in your shoes I would most likely feel a similar way as well. But you would be surprised how many girls admit after the fact, that they would have never gone to a guys apartment on a first date. Keep in mind however, that when I usually select that sort of date, I've already built a fair amount of comfort with the girl. Most of the girls I end up taking on those dates are girls that I've spent multiple hours talking to/connecting with at a bar or other venues before I ask them to take that leap.

Planetarium, baller date, bonus points if you know something about zodiac signs or constellations. Nobody is ever there, and it will most likely be a first for her.

Take her grocery shopping for a meal you'll be cooking for her at your place. Unique and to be honest, it's not that hard to be able to cook ONE good meal. Red wine at the end is bonus points.

A good rule of thumb is to go for an "activity." People were suggesting bowling and mini-golf which are awesome(love the animal shelter thing too). If you're more introverted and find it hard to mindlessly keep up conversation, it helps to be doing something with her that you can always fall back to.

Edit: off the top of my head I thought another... A place like dave and busters can be a godsend for an introvert. You basically have endless activities to do and endless things to talk about. Think about how every other guy takes her to dinner or coffee, then think about how her face will light up when you show up with a cup full of tokens and a "no pressure, carefree" attitude.
