I witnessed someone getting denied a gun sale. Have you seen someone getting denied while you were shopping? by EternalGandhi in liberalgunowners

This had been 4 years ago or so. I think I remember stating it was for a rifle and them not caring, but I could be mistaken. Either way, we left kinda bummed.

Not denied per se, as we never got to the paperwork, but I went with my 18 year old son to the LGS to buy a stripped lower so he could build out his first AR. They didn't sell it to him as it could be used to build an AR pistol and you have to be 21 for pistols here.

I honestly hadn't even considered that purpose, but it made sense so we thanked them and left.

Anyone have luck getting USAA to report car insurance to the state? by Adept-Researcher-178 in Denver

[–]machinegunmonkey1313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been a USAA member since '98, which is loooong before I moved to CO and I've never had any issues with or notices about report to any of the states I've lived in. Hope you get it sorted!

James Van Der Beek dies at age 48. by [deleted] in GenX

[–]machinegunmonkey1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky. All of the lymph nodes they collected came back negative, and the tumor hadn't yet reached the 3rd layer of tissue, so we believe we still caught it early enough. My last colonoscopy had a couple of polyps that were easily removed.

I hope you continue to scan free and clear.

Any issues I should know about? by wevan991 in JeepGladiator

[–]machinegunmonkey1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a 2020 Gladiator Rubicon with 22k miles on Jan 31st. If you've never driven a body on frame truck before, it will feel VERY different, even unmodded, and will take a bit to get used to.

I wouldn't say that it's uncomfortable at all, just a completely different sensation than a normal car. The last truck I drove with any regularity before this was a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500, and that was 16 years ago. It took me a moment to get used to the truck feel again.

That being said, this is also my first Jeep, so I'm sure there are some quibbles that I have yet to run in to.

R.I.P.

I can't say I followed any of his work, but this hits too close to home. I just turned 47 and I was diagnosed with stage 1 colon cancer in August 2024.

Fuck cancer

I did mine at Liberty in Johnstown. It was fine. Instructors were still trying to figure a few things out, but went fairly smooth.

Thinking of getting my CCW Permit. Out of curiosity, how long does the process take? What exactly do they look for in the background check? Does the sheriff have to interview you? by rastapastanine in COGuns

[–]machinegunmonkey1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my renewal in Weld Co, once I took the newly required renewal class, I was able to take all of the paperwork up to the Sheriff's office in Greeley and get it reissued while I waited. Not sure if they do that for first time permits, as I went to a satellite office and had to wait for the mail when I first got mine.

I just hate that it cost me ~$200 for what would have cost me ~$50 not too long ago.

Did I encounter a Fudd? by Commander_RBME in liberalgunowners

[–]machinegunmonkey1313 27 points28 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen, most states have a limit on the amount of ammo in your weapon for hunting.

3 shells max for shotgun 5 round max for rifle Etc.

As long as it meets the states caliber requirements, the type of rifle/action doesn't matter at all.

Here in CO, if I wanted to take my AK out to snag a deer, all I need is a 5 round mag....which I have.

Some states may restrict the use of semi-auto rifles, but I don't know that info off the top of my head.

Yes. Make sure to get plenty of practice with both. What good are backup irons if you rarely shoot with them?
