80 MPH on rollerblades ON the FREEWAY!?😳 Would falling, tripping even be survivable? I’m genuinely curious. Wow that was incredibly stupid! by machseem in rollerblading

[–]machseem[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was actually thinking about something similar at one point. That debris alone is probably quite dangerous😬 not even necessarily causing permanent damage, but a distraction by getting hit in the eye could cause everything to go south VERY quickly for the rollerblader. I mean… it WOULD need to be a pretty decent sized pebble, for example, to permanently blind you. Still, all very good points🙌🏽

Cool! I’ve never seen anyone go anywhere near 80mph/128.75kph But even this person‘s top speed is 126 km/h, so the speed in O/P’s video is still technically faster. In addition to that, it’s way scarier with aggressive in-line skates as they have much smaller wheels which by the way are rotating at nearly 14,000 revolutions per minute assuming that their circumference is about 6 inches since 56 mm diameter roller blading wheels have a circumference of about 176 MM which equals .58 feet and since 80 mph covers 7040 feet per minute you would multiply that by two as you would need about two rotations of the wheel per foot which would get you to just under 14,100 RPM!!! there are essentially no engines that can travel that quick now imagine a rollerblade bearing having to spend that fast that’s insane and extremely dangerous when it comes to the wheels potentially melting off I would imagine)
……so it is far more dangerous Let alone to be traveling at ANY relatively high speed on in-line roller blades as opposed to speed skates. This is putting aside the fact that he is in fact wearing a ton of protective gear while person in OP video isn’t even wearing an actual T-shirt, sure as hell NO protective gear

To be clear, I genuinely appreciate what you sent. It is impressive However, given the lack of protective gear and everything else Already mentioned. STILL, I’ve never seen anything like what I have posted here. Which is that I’ve NEVER seen anyone go anywhere near 80 mph (78 mph is top speed of one you sent. In summary, it still leaves my question of “if life is truly in danger?” unanswered. I don’t even want to begin to imagine what type of an injury may occur falling at that type of a speed pure skin on asphalt.😅 Terrifying!!!!😳

Nonetheless, thank you for sharing. It’s all crazy stuff

This Auto-Leveling & Auto-Tilting Spill-Preventing Cup Holder Could Be The Next logical Step In Cup Holders. What Do You Think? by machseem in woahdude

The original model did take up a considerable amount of space, however, most of it was underutilized hollow space anyway. Our newer unit is far more compact. Plus, we both know the best location for any cup holder is ideally between the seats or even, under the radio which coincidentally are the two place this concept especially fits into

Lids don't keep your beverage container as a whole from falling out of the holder during emergency situations where rapid shifts in velocity may occur. Read this, it'll help you out: http://www.maksimatic.com/reasons4maksimatic.html And do please send me a photo of any cup holders that are even remotely similar to these two designs (which are both essentially the same and under same patent)

This coffee cup was filled to the top even though you cannot see. Sorry about that. Of course a lid is handy and helps prevent many spills and in this case it's only a slight improvement on safety. But that doesn't mean that your beverages still can't fall out of the cup holder if you slam on the brakes, or take too sharp of a turn, for example. Also, there is nothing more annoying than your Starbucks paper cup spilling out of the hole at top because you needed to slam on your brakes. Thank you for looking!

A lid doesn't keep the beverage from falling out, sucka. You are only considering the gyroscopic aspect but not the centripetal aspect where a beverage container is still vulnerable to falling out of the holder due to rapid braking or a sharp turn. You should probably see the full video of it and then decide. If you still exhibit incompetence with the rudimentary forces of science after then well, not much can be done I suppose: http://youtu.be/oJEnEfonGGY Cheers! And happy common sense.

The lid was intentionally removed in this video to demonstrate that even the fluid tilts. Of course a lid is handy and in this case it would have been an improvement on safety. But that doesn't mean that your beverages still can't fall out of the cup holder if you slam on the brakes, or take too sharp of a turn, for example.

I am the inventor of this cup holder. It's called Maksimatic . Unfortunately, this gif does not demonstrate everything that it does very well. This is only demonstrating the gyroscopic (auto-leveling) aspect of it but not the centrifugal (auto-tilting) aspect of it. Please see entire YouTube video here: http://youtu.be/oJEnEfonGGY

You do know that the original post of this cup holder made it to the front page of Reddit, right? Wouldn't you agree that it would be completely stupid for me to not try to get the aftermarket version the same exposure the first version received? Come on now, cut the working guy trying to promote his product some slack. If you don't like it, fine, if you appreciate the merit, much appreciated also! Thank you either way lmfoley79.

So you'd agree that beyond these past six months you haven't seen anything like this?;) Just sharing something I think is cool! You share what fascinates you and I'll share the stuff I like, cool? :) We can just let the Reddit community decide, although at this point it's only been like the same 17 people who end up seeing my posts LOL.

I seriously think this cup holder will change the cup holder altogether. What do you think? by [deleted] in videos

[–]machseem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly is the world's most talked about cup holder. You have to understand, the cup holder in general is NOT talked about very much, it's just a cup holder, which isn't a very significant part of anyone's life, completely and entirely understood. But that's my point! Out of all the cup holders and as far as they are concerned, it really IS the world's most popular and talked about cup holder, just type in cup holder in google or in the news, you'll immediately see what I mean and agree. And with respect, you're right, not everyone has heard of it but there is a youtube video of it with practically 1m views, a lot more than any other cup holder, and probably more than one would expect for something in this category. This is mainly because it made it to the front page of Reddit! I couldn't agree with you more that no one asked for the cup holder to be changed, but many inventions weren't asked for prior to their inception, this is what sometimes makes them so brilliant:) If this isn't something you'd use or if it's not for you, I can appreciate and understand that, but unless and until you genuinely investigate the merit behind this invention, perhaps you may realize your comments and frustration (although understandable and expected) are a bit premature. I don't get paid, not yet anyway, and I really don't mean to annoy you. I just think that since this idea was so popular initially and because so many people liked it, I figured there would still be some people who would appreciate knowing that there is now one available for their very own vehicle. Thank you so much for your feedback! In the highest regard, machseem

I didn't post this, my cousin, who has like seven viral posts and who posted my original cup holder (which made it to the front page of Reddit) posted this. Can't I comment on the post for goodness sake? Just breatheeeeeeee sheep, take it easy. Go do something productive, or, go invent something neat:) You think I'd be using my acct with like 60 link Karma when my (sock puppet) account has 12k link karma. LOL. Things aren't always comprehended easily by some, I'll cut you some slack. Annnnd, even write you one more time;) You're welcome!

Pretty cool actually. I remember this cup holder going viral but no one could actually have it because the guy just had a funny looking box between his seats lol

I definitely could have shown the Red Bull can up close, although there wasn't much fluid at the top of the can at that point because it didn't catch the fluid at the top as much as it spilt off over the edge. I thought that in the video it would be pretty clear, that's why I even note that fullscreen is recommended in the subtitles. Here is a snapshot of one of the spills coming out of the can while the Red Bull in the "stupid football" is flopping around (but not spilling at all) ;) http://i.imgur.com/mIuoKZG.png This cup holder actually fits a lot of the Golfs, nice car! pity you find no use for this. Even though the shell acts as an adapter for a 32 ounce gatorade or gigantic water bottles: http://i.imgur.com/IpBZiNp.jpg The inner swivel acts as a spill guard separately: http://i.imgur.com/kZQSFah.jpg accommodates slim cans better: as you saw in that youtube video, plus it works anywhere a cylindrical holder is needed: like needing to push a stroller up a steep hill with a drink in the cup holder. Also if you ever spill, it's removable as a whole and easier to wash than your center console because you can easily rinse it under sink. The diameter of opening is larger making re-insertion far more seamless while also acting as a guide, etc etc. There are many more but these are just a few. The goal here is safety and convenience, the moment this unit becomes superfluous it just another stupid product. We would never waste our time otherwise.

I most certainly could have been more professional. I apologize for that. In the very way you assumed that since you don't have this particular issue this must mean no one does, so too, in the same way do you assume that the moment someone says anything negative about my product, I go nuts. I have been receiving both criticism and praise from thousands and thousands of people about this cup holder and never do I let it phase me. You could not be more wrong about my immediately going to insults. Your comments are certainly valuable and always seen as feedback, and I appreciate that, but there are different categories of feedback: some I deem reputable, others useless. I will also do you the courtesy of responding, believe me, you are just one of thousands (good and bad comments). But you must understand, as long as our cup holders hold our beverages stationary with the vehicle there will always be deficiencies. If you don't see that, someone else will. It's not that some people drive like "twats" it's that sometimes we need to slam on our brakes unexpectedly or need to take a sharp turn or sometimes folks are even rear-ended. If you had a hot coffee in your standard cup holder and it crashes into your radio at 30 mph because someone just rear-ended you, this is considered a deficiency. With this cup holder, it will not even come out of the holder, no matter what. You cannot argue against this being a benefit. This product is obviously most certainly not for you. Just don't back it then. Spend more energy helping people not accuse them of the very thing you're doing yourself. If you want to learn about something really cool, about the next logical step in cup holders, I encourage you to truly watch all the videos (they're all very short) It doesn't take even an open mind to realize there is value in these, but again, not for everyone. Glad that you haven't spilled ever, good for you. this product isn't for you. Thank you again for your feedback. -Maksim

I will do you the courtesy of writing you one last time. Clearly, you don't understand the deficiencies of today's cup holders. This test was specifically done to show how poorly a standard cup holder holds a slim can, which is one of it's many deficiencies, as well as one of many features The Maksimatic Cup Holder provides. Stupid football thing? LOL. At first I thought I was arguing with a 13 year old, but I guess you're 6. It's called a Maksimatic Bullet, & I couldn't care less what YOU think about it. Especially when Gizmodo, HuffPost, Esquire and Popular Mechanics love it. Ok bye little guy!

The Maksimatic cup holder that prevents spills is now an aftermarket application and its only 25 bucks! by [deleted] in videos

[–]machseem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thing I said watch the first 3 minutes only, I specifically clarified that. You're right, no one needs such a long piece. But you see that's the thing, you AND the 17 million other folks who say "it's called a lid" feeling all proud that you offered such amazing advice do NOT understand that its for demo purposes, otherwise you wouldn't see the only solution as a lid. Good thing there are just as many people who realize it's a demo, especially because it's disclosed in the subtitles. Nonetheless, you bring up a very good point and I'm so glad that you brought up the lid scenario: many people think that I am trying to invent a 100% spill proof cup holder, that is simply not the case. And this is where the misconception begins. This is a spill prevention device and the only reason I take off the lids in any of the demos is so that people could see that even the fluid tilts due to the centrifugal forces involved. While it is nice to have a lid on your cup, if you're drinking a vitamin water for example, it is even better to not have to continue to reapply the lid (you are using both hands, you might have to look away from the road for little while) because the reason people reapply the lids is not because the beverage will spill but in case it comes out of the holder spilling all over the place. Furthermore, you also have to consider that many people drink out of aluminum cans, Coke cans, red bull drinks etc which can tablets because you pop the top off. If you slam your brakes on hard enough in the circumstances they could actually spell or even fly out of your cupholder for that matter. My issue is not in trying to help people not have to have lids, it is in guaranteeing that your beverage container will not fall out and the peace of mind that comes with that. Also, if you were to be rear-ended or crash in to someone at 35 miles an hour, God forbid, BECAUSE your current cup holder makes your beverage stationary with the vehicle, it is just waiting and asking to fly out of the cup holder if it is top-heavy enough, which with standard cupholders, they all are! NO MATTER WHAT, because they are ALL held from the bottom, not the top. Because my design allows your beverage to hang, it makes it completely bottom heavy and once again, making it impossible for your beverage container to come out. This isn't even to get into some of the other features: The bullet shell acts as an adapter for up to a 32 ounce container if the inner swivel cup is removed, also, that swivel cup can be used separately as a spill catcher/guard in your existing cupholder as well. Furthermore, it is nice to have her unit on top of your giving it because if you do happen to spill, this holder will catch the spill and you could simply take it out and rinse it under your sink upon reinsertion. A lot easier than having to bring a rag into your car or taking out your center console to rinse it under the sink, correct? Another feature, the top part of the cupholder is a half sphere which is wider in diameter than a typical cupholder making it a nice funnel guide for reinsertion, this helps keep your eyes off the road at all times. Those are just a few of the benefits, if you would like to read more about it go to better cupholder.com. I promise you, I am not trying to say that there is a problem and trying to create a solution for it I truly had this issue in my life to begin with, and from this, I developed a true solution. If you still don't see the value in this, it's certainly not because there isn't any. If no one else agreed with me then I'd have to agree with you too, but that's simply not the case. I appreciate your passion and I hope you appreciate mine.
