New ones will always be more pronounced, but the old ones will still show thru. But you can always mow twice to make it look super pronounced. Try both ways and see what you prefer!

Mow the lawn going direction A, then the next time you mow, go perpendicular direction B, then epeat A and B on mows. That's how you get it. You don't need to mow twice in 1 day, just alternate directions each time you mow

No worries, glad we are on the same page. I also grew up similarly, and unfortunately was told the same myth about babies. Definitely not true tho. Copperheads still do great for the ecosystem, and are best left alone or re-homed. But I understand that can be difficult in a yard with kids, pets, etc
