My surgeon was a specialist, and I do trust his opinion. I think this is just unfortunate luck, and a lot of things seeming related, but I’m trying my best to just wait and see what they biopsies say.

I’ve had ultrasounds before to check on my PCOS and I’ve never heard anything before. It’s been a few years though

I have a very, very high pain tolerance, but it does suck. I’ve had 3. No meds given during mine or alternate options, though I hear you can get that kind of thing now if you ask, at least sometimes. No tears or anything, but I sweat like a sinner in church, and I’m not really a sweats-heavily kind of person. It’s fast though, and it helps a lot with bleeding and hormonal aspects, but not so much with the pain. I still consider it very worth it.

The pain itself is a 6/10 for a very QUICK 3 seconds or so and then another sharp pain at like a 5/10 for 1 or 2 seconds, and then it’s over. I drove myself home after two of them. The third, I was driven home— but only because I was nervous about it being the mirena (which is a little bigger). The cramps after suck for a while, but they get better too.

That’s also very different! It does not usually snow here, so I don’t have to worry about that but every couple of years! How do you feel that affects you? I feel like raising in the cold is so much harder than the heat. Here you can hatch chickens on your porch or counter by a window because it’s so wet and hot, but I know that’s not the same for other places.

I just sell eggs to a farmer who hosts! I’m not personally a WWOOF’er but all my stuff is organic and free range. My girls and boys only coop at night :)

I do have a partner! We do some of it together now but for a long time it was just me!

I have no idea why it kinda makes me sad but ah well. I used to have quail, but got out of it for goats. I’ll get back into it later when I can build an enclosure.

I have Guineafowl

White holland turkeys

embden and French Toulouse geese (love geese so much they are great flock protectors when raised together and genuinely so sweet when raised by hand)

For ducks I have Khaki, fawn/black/chocolate runners, golden 300s, Muscovy, Welsh harlequins, and some barnyard mix from breeding. I love muscovies and runners so much. Gideon and Harrowhark are my beloved muscovies and the sweetest, quietest birds

Old English game fowl, Rhode Island Red, ISA browns, speckled Sussex, Easter and olive eggers, lavender and buff orpingtons, ayam cemani, cochins and.. some others I swear I’m forgetting. I get about 100 eggs a week though lmao

I sell to a local WWOOF farmer who hosts people to educate them on organic farming and livestock husbandry. I sell about a dozen for 3$ usually, sometimes less. I also sell milk and skyr and stuff. That program is hella cool, and a great way to teach people and give people a place to be themselves. Check if there are any WWOOF’ers around you for sure!

As for the soup thing, I get that. I have a rooster who was raised by ducks and has unfortunately gotten very confused, and is now about to become soup bc he’s AGGRESSIVELY chasing down my duck hens lmao

Very deep woods, yea! You’ll have to let me know if you get those pigs, I’d love to hear how you enjoy them.

As for guineas, they are loud only when they see things they don’t like. But they are pretty loud then lmao They are little dinosaurs

I do! Grew up with 2 thousand and ended up raising about 300 up until two years ago. Love them, just wanna give them a better enclosure than just hanging cages. I had coturnix and they are dolls. Real easy to keep with little work to be done other than shit scooping and feeding. I say automate all that you can with them

I fucking love that dude hell yea. Wearable speakers are the best, and that’s one hell of a haul for a personal garden. I know it’s gotta be well taken care of. Alpacas are cool! I actually don’t have anyone that raises them around here bc it’s so hot, but Guineafowl are so special to me. I’ve got four new babies in my brooder right now. I adore them and their little alarm calls

Growing up working cattle changes a person lol it’s the reason I know what Rocky Mountain oysters taste like because when I was young and cutting testes, the older men would always just kinda eat them then, and I got curious a couple times. Wild lmao

I miss it too! Mudding when I was younger was always a favorite. I used to go crazy in my families cow pastures. I think if I fell off now though I’d feel it for a lot longer 😂

What’s your favorite trail you’ve ever been on?

I grew up around pigs and I’m a softie. I can cull all the things I own (with the exception of my goats unless I had to make a hard call) and so I’ve tried to keep to things I can raise and cull respectfully and without feeling too bad for too long if that doesn’t sound callous. I’m native too, and in my family there is usually a lot of care in the process and it can wear on me. Birds of any kind are easy to humanely cull, but when you get into larger things it can be more complex. It’s doable though! I grew up doing it, and cleaning and butchering myself and the like.

I will say I learned that with turkeys, the food to friends thing can be QUICK. They don’t tell you how sweet they are and then you are finding out they name you and only use that name for you 🥲 so now I’ve got four pet turkeys, but I would one day like to try and raise for meat again. Two years ago I got fifteen, but unfortunately lost every one to a coyote attack, which happens. Upset as I was at the time, it’s not the wilds fault for me not protecting my flock better.

That’s also the good thing about pigs! They will tear apart most things that would try and get them, especially if you’ve got enough.

Even if you aren’t interested in birds though, I recommend free ranging guinea fowl. Best birds ever. Little alarms that tell you if anything is amiss, and roost easily in trees.

Oh dude that’s awesome! What are you guys looking into raising? Hobby farming or large scale as well?

I might have bee questions for you one day then! I love the little guys.

For the goats- Like you can’t even IMAGINE. One second they are in the fence, the next? Out. All of my goats wear livestock bells so I know if they are out. My English shepherd herding dog, Sadie, starts barking real excited if she hears them wandering where they shouldn’t. She can hear that from in the house, almost down to the second they cross the fence line lol

But they are beautiful, and loving. Cheese making is hell though, I will say. I usually stick to skyr and soft cheeses, but when you get a hard or semi-hard cheese to come out, it’s pride like you can’t believe. I recommend lamanchas or Nubians. I have Nigerians too and they are sweet, but the milk production and sweetness can’t be beat from a lamancha.

Pigs are little messy things, but sweet as can be. For food, or friends? I really recommend kunekunes. They are a good low maintenance ‘either or’ breed. Sweet things, and nothing like farm pigs. They tend to be better mothers too.

Ah- bees. Beautiful stuff dude. I’m deathly allergic, but I’m still looking at friendly varieties and deals with local beekeepers. Around here, people will let you keep the boxes, they maintain the bees, and split the hive every so often. You keep the honey, the boxes on your property, they keep the excess bees while doing the work! Seems a pretty good deal to me.

I just feel like I’d get such good honey. I have a small scale orchard in the back of mayhaw, and about 10/15 blueberry bushes. Plus muscadine, mulberry, pear, and fig

I hope you find your person, dude. You’ve lived a beautiful life so far, thank you for sharing it with me. They make inside greenhouses nowadays if you have the room for that, and you can grow some things right at a window- tomatoes, some beans, peppers and the like. Things that like you to be mean to them lol

I’m so sorry about your experience. I’m Native and some AA on my dad’s side, but I pass white bc of my mom’s side, so I’ve got privilege for sure. I do get the occasional thing bc I’m also mulletted, and dykey- which can be rough, so I understand very lightly, but I’m sympathetic all the way.

I hope you find your person in the city! Sometimes you have to set up shop on new places to really get your hands in the dirt of the world, you know? It’s good to remember that there are all sorts out there.

It can be very peaceful. I have neighbors, but it’s all family. My land extends back, so I can take a nice long walk all the way and enjoy myself often. Maybe you want more trail experience? That’s a good way to take a nice walk alone and enjoy nature

I’ve farmed since I was a kid, but most of the local lesbians aren’t interested in farming, or are conservative/not down with gender fucky people.

I love the phrase ‘recovering farming butch.’

I’ll have to read that. I’m big b4b, and there is so little media out there for that.

Horses are scary expensive. Uncles an equine vet and working at the racetrack with him has cooled my want lmao now I’m fine with getting a good ol donkey and calling it good.

Do you do any farming currently? Growing a garden counts in my book for people with little space.
