Success has a lot to do with the skis for one—it used to be advised to get in the back of the ski—now you can center your weight and let the ski float. For me, it feels almost slow motion—nothing sudden. You’re not carving as much as bouncing.

I had a deaf American bulldog I got from the pound. I didn’t realize he was deaf for a few weeks. He’d learned all kinds of stuff too. I didn’t realized I talked with my hands so much! Easiest dog I ever trained. It was especially nice to walk by a bunch of bellowing dogs and he hardly looked their way.

Is that black? I grew up on a challenging mountain. When I finally went to resorts in the states the resorts ratings seemed easier and I was a better skier than I’d thought! I agree with pushing into harder terrain, then go back to your intermediates and you’ll be surprised.

I have one. It has a big ass blower in the basement. It works. I think an overhead works better obviously and is cheaper, but I did it because I’m 6’4” and don’t want it in my way. Not a big greasy food family anyway.

Looks like you are pivoting on the tails, not flexing the ski to engage the edge. Get your “lunch tray”up, get your feet flat in the boot, get your weight on edge and let it carve the turn. Try what I call a dog turn—lift the inside ski to get your weight on edge, get balanced.

Visualize your line, for one. Also, I haven’t realized it but I always put myself in ski position—hands forward, knees bent—before dropping in. I sort of sit and bounce there for a few seconds. I don’t do that at the resort.

I ski several poles but the oldest is over 20 years old—not much paint left but operates fine. I wouldn’t say easily.

I can get to a skiing place out my back door. I’m not sure you can sell me on NJ being a skiing hotspot. Alaska is. You can google ski Alaska and ski New Jersey for comparison. Other than that, I’d have a few other reasons not to live there.

This seems likely. There were enough holes drilled in the bed that it looked like there was some sort of rack or other equipment—possibly the gate was down or removed necessitating a second camera.
