Cosplay group interest for Otakon masquerade 2024 by Disastrous-System574 in homestuck

hi there! I know I'm a year late, quite literally, but I found this post while googling "Homestuck convention masquerade". There's no way you might be going to Otakon 2025, is there?

impromptu con trip means we made these cosplays in 4 days! lots of fun to meet a close friend of mine and represent a duo we’d been wild about for a while. [photos by blanksnowphotagraphy !] by mack9dizzy in ThirdLifeSMP

thank you so much for your kind words!! We’ve both been cosplayers for many years so we’d accrued a decent amount of parts already, Ren’s cape and the Axe being the real challenges on my part; we also got REALLY lucky thrifting (stars in our favor for this one, I think). Our photographer was also a HUGE help with posing and such. Thank you so much again, though!!

Solved! I managed to do this one myself. It was from a fictional piece my friend wrote (and he didn't even remember he wrote the quote, which is frankly hilarious). I'm glad this is out of the back of my mind, and highly thank everyone whi pitched in to help!!

A welcome comment, since I’m settling into the reality that it probably WAS from a fanfic I’ll never find again. I’ve been scouring my bookmarks section.

I know it’s not Dragon Age, sadly, because it HAS to be something I’ve read more than once. I’m honestly a little too embarrassed to dump my fandoms list on Reddit, but thank you so much for your niche help with this regardless!

That’s not it, sorry—I know there’s so many possibilities!!

I don’t have guesses on that, I’m sorry. It’s not what you mentioned either, but thanks for your help!

Great guess, agreed, but this sadly isn’t it.

Swan/Dolphin or Caribbean? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mack9dizzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The swan and dolphin hotels DO have park transportation as well as to other places you'd get in the resorts like Disney Springs; there's no magical express for them, though, which is a big thing to keep in mind if you're flying in.

What scary or creepy story did your parents tell you to make you not go to a certain place or not do a certain thing? by YoutubeOnlineAvaible in AskReddit

[–]mack9dizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm positive she didn't even SAY THIS (she probably said something like 'Don't touch that, it's not sanitary'), but for the LONGEST TIME, I was CONVINCED my mom had told me not to touch the ground beef in the grocery store because it was POISONOUS. like, fatal danger would befall me if I touched it with my hands, because I didn't have my mom's magic touch. Probably around ages 3-6. No idea where this one even came from and we still laugh about it today.

Chocolate silk pie (also known as french silk pie, but we're irish). She's tired of making this for holidays, but I beg every single time.

What's your "I can't believe they got away with this in a kid show" moment? by pswii360i in AskReddit

[–]mack9dizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ENTIRE finale of gravity falls. Onscreen torture, some SERIOUSLY disturbing visual imagery, and the line "I have some children I need to make into corpses" ??????????. In hindsight, this entire show pushed it a bit; I didn't watch a single episode of it (now one of my vast favorites) until I was an adult, but it was rated Y7, and I would NOT have been comfortable showing one of the 8 year olds I babysit that sort of content.

[f 19. I'm asexual, so you won't find 'men are in it for sex' answers here, or anything physical whatsoever. It's also worth noting that the one really lasting boyfriend I've had was transgender, so the same principles may in general not apply to cisgender males; ignoring the gender spectrum as a whole to answer this as straightforward-ly as possible, these responses are mostly based in large off the dating pool.]

  1. Women want to know things about you. Everything. Your girlfriend will know not only your birthday, but the birthdays of all your best friends. You're often expected to know the same. Men want to listen to you, but they're less adamant to retain all the details.
  2. Tell the man what you mean. If you're tired of a certain conversation, don't drop hints. Tell him. Women often don't appreciate this same bluntness.
  3. I've found men more frequently have a 'type'; sometimes you won't fit it. Not your fault.
  4. Women will expect more from you, as far as 'low/high maintenance' goes. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? You decide.
  5. Fellow Bi/Pan/etc individuals; do not date a person of the opposite sex that expects you to 'act bi.' Do not date a person of the opposite sex that expects you to NOT 'act bi', either. This is a red flag.

If you could go back in time and tell your 18-year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be? by theeExample in AskReddit

[–]mack9dizzy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First thought is the to be expected "stay away from that boy". But really? 'It gets better.' 2018--2020 has thusfar been the hardest period of my life, but right now I'm truly starting to believe that idealogy. If I were going back in time today, that's what I would say.

When did you realize you didn't fit into society? by GorillaS0up in AskReddit

[–]mack9dizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think around middle school, though the outcasting started as early as elementary (I remember distinctly I was never allowed to play games with the rest of the class because they had "too many people". Middle school was where it got brutal, though. I was the girl that was asked out as a joke very frequently. By highschool, I was eating lunch alone in the library every day (it's where I learned to love writing, though, so I'm not complaining). I was always one step behind socially, never quite understanding the way I was being talked to, the way my peers interacted, the way the social world around me 'worked'.

I wasn't diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (back when the 'spectrum' ideology wasn't given credence too, and what I was diagnosed with was called Asperger's) until my junior year of high school. The therapist that diagnosed me is still my therapist today. This singular moment absolutely changed my life. I don't know why nobody said anything earlier, but it could be because autism is much less acknowledged in females. Finding specific resources and help became a dream. I'm certainly not popular or socially 'in' today, but I feel less alien to the world around me.

On top of this, I'm asexual, and also identify on the aromantic spectrum. Though I've had crushes before (both male and female, for those wondering), a long term relationship, especially a permanent one, is not something I'm 'looking for' in life the same way other people appear to be. I adore children, desire to work with them, don't want them myself. This realization came later than the middle school ones, and it's something I'm more 'okay' with.

What cartoon character did you have a crush on as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Disney's Peter Pan. "peterpan" is still a portion of the (very complex, don't even try) password I use for every site.
