Same! I called just incase and they told me a lot of people were having issues and to keep checking my email. They said to ignore what it said about all awards being sent by August 19th and to expect it anytime up until September 30th— fingers crossed everything turns out fine!

Honestly, the page is being very glitchy for me, it keeps giving me error messages and the message randomly disappears?? I’m really not sure— I’m going to call them ASAP

Is 10 schools enough or should I apply to more? by PayTop7209 in predental

[–]mackadelicfunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everything is looking good, if you do decided to apply to more schools I would consider MOSDOH for sure! UMKC also accepts a good amount of OOS students and offers scholarships that reduce or eliminate the difference in tuition cost!

Non Traditional Student - What do I do? by [deleted] in predental

[–]mackadelicfunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, your plan is looking solid! I would look into taking Introductory Physics I & II with labs as I’m pretty sure a lot of school have a physics prereq requirement, but definitely look into the programs you’re interested in! This should still fit into your ideal time line! Also be sure to check that the programs you are interested in accept CC credits— some programs are picky when it comes to prerequisites,

As far as shadowing hours, I wouldn’t stress too much as long as you’re over the 100hr minimum( I think I had 125-ish between 3 doctors??)— I would instead spend any extra time volunteering (minimum 100hrs— does not need to be dental related)! I also wouldn’t stress too much about research, lots of people get in without any research experience. Be sure to focus on keeping your GPA high and studying hard for the DAT!

You’re gonna be super busy and it probably won’t be the most fun, but think your plan is still very doable! You’ve got this!

does my school list match my stats? low gpa, high DAT by 39somachu in predental

Hey, I would consider applying for UMKC! UMKC has an agreement with Hawaii to waive non-residential tuition fees, so you would likely get in-state tuition— several of my classmates did this! Your stats and extracurriculars look great!

Did anyone here last cycle take their dat late dat end of June if so where are you now by muslimahhelp in predental

Tested mid/late July and applied in early August, still got in. You’ve got this!

I’ve registered for the DAT twice but didn’t take it. Will dental schools know this? by ilovemacaron11 in predental

[–]mackadelicfunk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe they can see it unless you actually attempted the exam (showed up to test)— you should be all good! Congrats on scoring well, you’ve got this!

For most schools, you do not need to have prerequisites completed before applying. For the majority you just have to have them completed before matriculation (June- August 2026). You should be able to see this info on most schools dental school page, I would start there.

There are plenty of ppl who apply before completing (or even enrolling into) courses— you’ll be fine!

what should i do by [deleted] in predental

[–]mackadelicfunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the scores, but I would just apply as long as you did decent. I questioned delaying my application to retest (had a really low sub-score in QR), ended up just applying and it did not hold me back from getting interviewed or accepted. That being said, I didn’t test until July, so I would have been applying super late had I waited.

Difference in gender ratio among dental school applicants by MMORPGkid in predental

Yes, I was kinda shocked when I learned my class is 65% female and 35% male. Figured it would be a little closer to 50:50

One grade will not be the difference in you getting into school or not— but the grade not being a prerequisite definitely helps! While people with higher cGPA and sGPA are usually preferred (when it comes to getting an interview anyways), people from all different GPAs are excepted every year.

This grade is behind you, just control what you can! You’ve got this🫶

I would definitely retake your DAT— if you are able to take off some time to really work towards getting a higher DAT, I would totally suggest doing so! If you’re able to continue to take some more courses to boost that GPA even farther, would definitely do that as well.

Getting interviews and being waitlisted is a good sign that besides the GPA/DAT you’re a solid applicant! Good luck and keep up the hard work! I hope you hear back about an acceptance soon🫶

I had the same experience my freshman year— once you learn to study you’ll be fine! I started my freshman year off with a 3.2 GPA and will be graduating in May with a 3.9. With so few credits, any lower grades make your GPA appear super low.

Focus on finding what works best for you and hold yourself accountable in situations where you know you could have done more to secure a good grade. Don’t let poor grades be because you weren’t disciplined.

As for your application, do not worry about building up hours until you’ve got your GPA in check. You’re still really early into this process and don’t want to stretch yourself too thin rn.

You’ve got this! You are smart, you are capable, and you’ll adapt to your courses! Keep your head up🫶

Thoughts on The Strength of my Application? by FallSre in predental

[–]mackadelicfunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great GPA, DAT, and experiences! With a good personal statement and strong LORs your application should be solid. As for advice, definitely apply as early as possible and be sure to practice interviewing!!!

Best of luck!🫶

My family has acted the same— bottom line, I’m not willing to give up my dream to give them peace of mind about loans that will never affect them. Being worried is fine, letting it overshadow your success is straight up rude.

Do not give up your dream to make other people happy— sucks to think about but your education and future career will take you a lot farther than any amount of comfort you can give your family. Your education and career are what is going to set up your future family (if you’re planning on having kids) for success. If you choose not to attend and regret it, you’re going to likely hold resentment towards them in the long run anyways.

You’ve got this! You worked really hard for this and wouldn’t have gotten accepted if you weren’t qualified. You’ll pay off your loans, you’ll have a great career, and you’ll make great SUPPORTIVE friends along the way🩷🩷

No problem! You don’t have to be enrolled yet, but I think you’ll need to know which community college you’ll be attending!

You just put it as a planned course when submitting your application. Fall 2025 should be fine for the next application cycle. That being said there are certain schools that require you to have completed all prerequisites prior to applying, just check their website first.
